Easy and nutritious Instant Pot turkey meatloaf recipe for you! Packed with protein and full of flavor your whole family will love, this dinner is sure to please and makes great leftovers too! If you’re looking for a pressure cooker recipe using ground turkey this is a great one.
My family loves my meatloaf! I’ve used the same recipe my mom made years ago and make it at least once a month, usually more. Ever since I got my electric pressure cooker I have making almost all of my meals in it so last weekend I tried this Instant Pot turkey meatloaf and it came out great! Smothered in some barbecue sauce it was a hit and worked great for leftovers too! Definitely one of our favorite healthy Instant Pot recipes! (affiliate links present)
Instant Pot Turkey Meatloaf is a Great Dinner Idea
Everyone agreed it tasted just like my oven version but took just a fraction of time to cook. Yes we typically make this old fashioned dish with ground beef but if you too are looking for a healthier alternative, this is it!!
In the past I had cooked Instant Pot Frozen Ground Turkey to make spaghetti. For this you need it defrosted or a fresh pound as you see here below. That way you can mix with some egg, breadcrumbs and other seasonings and form into a loaf to steam!
If you’re looking for some comfort food, but focusing on lean sources of protein, this Foster Farms Organic Ground Turkey is a great choice! Found at your local grocery store it is raised free range on a certified organic vegetarian diet, and always free of added hormones and steroids. It’s the only California-grown, organic, fresh ground turkey.
Instant Pot turkey meatloaf is a nutritious and lean source of protein
Of course you are free to use our recipe and cook it in a loaf pan in the oven at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes or until it reaches the desired “doneness” you like, but here we will explain how to make it in your Instant Pot or pressure cooker too.
I use a springform pan, cover it with foil, and set it on a trivet to cook. This is a handy pan to have as I’ve cooked dinners such as this one, as well as cakes in it too. I don’t think I’m any different when I say I am a busy mom who doesn’t have a lot of time to cook.
I have 3 busy children and both of us work full time so any time I can create a healthy dinner in about 25 minutes I’m game. Here’s our meat mixture prepared and ready for a short cook time.
This is what you’ll need and the recipe for our Instant Pot turkey meatloaf
Ground Turkey Meatloaf Ingredients
- Large bowl or small bowl will be needed to mix everything together
- Ground Turkey like you see here is a lighter color than it’s beef counterpart
- Bread crumbs, we like Italian so it adds to the seasonings
- Egg will bind everything together nicely
- Ranch dressing mix (powdered found in a packet at the store when you’re grabbing your ground turkey)
- Onion (can use dehydrated minced if you don’t have fresh)
- Worcestershire sauce gives it a pop of yum
- Barbecue sauce (to top, or ketchup if you prefer)
- Salt and pepper
- 6″ springform pan is helpful
- Cup of water on the bottom will allow the loaf to steam
Just 30 minutes later and it’s done!! Pressure cooking rocks. If you want to remove the meatloaf at the end and put it under the broiler to crisp you’ll need a sheet pan too. I smothered it with barbecue sauce here because it made it prettier and served with pressure cooker mashed potatoes.
Generally I serve everyone and pour some on top of their piece. The reason I do it that way is for leftovers. I try to use all of the food I make and not let any go to waste. I have made many things with my leftover meatloaf and this one is no exception.
If you’re wondering why I just don’t put it in my oven I do sometimes. However in the summertime when it is 110 degrees outside I am NOT turning on my oven for anything. That is when using a pressure cooker really helps!
I have a recipe for cooking an entire pressure cooker turkey here and pressure cooker meatloaf and potatoes together as well!
- Then make our smoked meatloaf that’s stuffed with cheese and you’ll go crazy.
Leftover meatloaf recipes to make
- Spaghetti (cut up leftovers into small pieces and throw it in to add meat into your sauce) – like our Instant Pot spaghetti
- If you have a Ninja Foodi you can make this Ninja Foodi meatloaf in that too.
- Lasagna (add meat to sauce) – or our pressure cooker lasagana casserole
- Omelettes (add chopped up leftover meatloaf inside your egg with cheese for a heartier breakfast) – or into our pressure cooker breakfast bundt cake
- Sandwiches (slice leftovers inside rolls for a meatloaf sandwich with ketchup on top)
Note: When I say slow pressure release below I mean that I move the valve ever so slightly so it comes out slowly.

Instant Pot Turkey Meatloaf
Equipment
- 1 pressure cooker
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey, I’ve used up to 19 oz. at a time
- 1/2 c onion, diced
- 2/3 c bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp ranch dressing mix
- 1 rsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 c barbecue sauce
- 4 chives, diced
Instructions
- Put all ingredients in a bowl (EXCEPT bbq sauce, that will be later) and mix well, using your hands works best in my opinion.
- Spray the inside of a 6-7″ springform pan and put your meatloaf mixture inside.
- Pat down so it fills the pan and is even across so it cooks evenly.
- Put 2 cups of water inside your Instant Pot, then a trivet, and cover your springform pan with aluminum foil.
- Lower your pan with meatloaf inside down on to your trivet.
- Put your lid on and close, close steam valve too.
- Set Instant Pot to high pressure for 20 minutes if using 19 oz. in a 6″ pan, if using 1 lb. in a larger 7″ pan you will want to cook a bit shorter, like 15 minutes to account for it being a bit thinner.
- Do a slow release and lift lid carefully.
- Remove foil, release lock on springform pan, and slice. Pour barbecue sauce over the top and sprinkle with chives.

Last night, I made this turkey meatloaf recipe using the springform pan and it was easy and delicious! Mouthwatering delicious and so moist and juicy.
I wanted to make mash potatoes to go with so I did the following:
I added peeled quartered potatoes at the bottom with 2 cups of water (8 quart Instant Pot) and added a tall trivet. I put foil at the bottom of the springform pan to catch any drippings since I didn’t want the drippings in my potatoes. Added foil on top, closed the lid and set the timer for 20 minutes and did a quick release afterwards.
I placed the springform pan under the broiler until I felt it was ready (5-7 minutes – my broiler is wacky so I have to keep an eye on it).
In the meantime, I poured out 95% of the water out of the Instant Pot’s inner pot and placed the inner pot on the counter, leaving the potatoes inside. Added a tablespoon of sour cream, 1/2 stick of butter, two squirts of horseradish (secret ingredient), salt, garlic powder and then took a hand mixer and mixed it all within the Instant Pot’s inner pot. Sample taste and added a bit more salt for perfection.
The potatoes came out 100% creamy. The meat loaf was done, served both together side by side on a plate and my partner kept going back for more!!!! Because the meatloaf was in a circle, I sliced it like a pie with a butter knife. My partner and I loved the meal. So full of flavor and hit the spot perfectly and being able to make mash potatoes and meat loaf at the same time and have both come out fantastic made a huge difference!
So, day #2 I decided to take the ground beef that I have in the refrigerator and using same recipe, using most of the ingredients, found it took only five minutes to prepare. I used 1-lb 10 oz and after mixing all the ingredients, split into two. I placed the first half in the springform pan, sprinkled Northwood Seasoning on top, then added shredded Cheddar cheese. Mixed Northwood in the other half, formed a circle to the best I could so I wouldn’t mess up the cheese, and added it on top and gently pressed in the sides. 1-lb and 10 oz filled the springform pan to the top! Because I didn’t have potatoes underneath this time, I only put foil on top and set the timer for 30 minutes, then did a quick release!
I have the mealthy crisp lid so I removed the foil, added ketchup and did 350 for 6 minutes.
Glad it was a hit
I used this recipe as a base. I ended up using onion soup mix instead of fresh onion and ranch seasoning. Then when it came out of the instant pot I poured a jar of turkey gravy over it and threw it in the oven at 400 while I used the instant pot to make mashed potato’s. Reminded me of the old school turkey loafs but 10x better. Thank you for the inspiration!
Awesome!
I didn’t have a spring form or any pan to use for the meatloaf so I made my own out of Heavy Duty foil folded and rounded to make my own ‘pan’ with the sides up high enough and I put it on the instapot trivet, covered with foil and cooked for 15 minutes (it was only 1 lb of ground turkey). I loved it – did not add any of the bbq sauce, I was fine with it as is. Easy to make an excellent.
Great meatloaf – thanks!
Glad it was a hit
Hi there! By slow release, do you mean natural release where it sits until the pressure releases on its own? Or is quick release okay?
I just move valve just slightly so steam comes out slowly. Quick release is fine too.
Can you use a disposable foil meatloaf pan and cover it with foil?
That should work
How tall of a trivet do you use? Is the foil wrapped pan submerged in the water at all or does it sit above the water? Kind of new to the Instant Pot world so I’m still trying to figure these things out! Thanks!
Also, how long do you do the slow release for? Thx!
If I don’t have a springform pan how do I cook it? Do I place the loaf on the trivet and put foil over it?
You’d have to have some sort of pan to keep it in tact so it can rest on it. A trivet of some kind.
We made this and without the ranch favoring and added half cup of oatmeal. We served the BBQ sauce on the side so you could take as much as you wanted, but none was needed.
It was the best meatloaf I ever had.. So rich and juicy tasting.
So delicious!! Easy to make! Popped in broiler for a few minutes at the end with a topping of ketchup, mustard and brown sugar.
So glad you loved it!
Do you mix the bbq sauce in with the other ingredients or just top off the loaf with it after cooking?
No I put it on the top once it is done.
