Best Instant Pot Turkey Meatloaf

Here’s an easy and nutritious Instant Pot turkey meatloaf recipe for you! Packed with protein and full of flavor your whole family will love, this dinner is sure to please and makes great leftovers too! If you’re looking for a pressure cooker recipe using ground turkey this is a great one.

Instant Pot Turkey Meatloaf 3My family loves my meatloaf! I’ve used the same recipe my mom made years ago and make it at least once a month, usually more. Ever since I got my electric pressure cooker I have making almost all of my meals in it so last weekend I tried this Instant Pot turkey meatloaf and it came out great!  Smothered in some barbecue sauce it was a hit and worked great for leftovers too! Definitely one of our favorite healthy Instant Pot recipes! Special thanks goes out to Foster Farms for sponsoring this post. (originally published 1/18, affiliate links present)

Everyone agreed it tasted just like my oven version but took just a fraction of time to cook.

  • Instant Pot turkey meatloaf sounds like a great dinner idea right??!!

If you’re looking for some comfort food, but focusing on lean sources of protein, this Foster Farms Organic Ground Turkey is a great choice! Found at your local grocery store it is raised free range on a certified organic vegetarian diet, and always free of added hormones and steroids.  It’s the only California-grown, organic, fresh ground turkey.

Instant Pot turkey meatloaf is a nutritious and lean source of protein. My kids love it too!

  • Of course you are free to use our recipe and cook it in a loaf pan in the oven at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes or until it reaches the desired “doneness” you like, but here we will explain how to make it in your Instant Pot or pressure cooker too.
This is how mine looks after I’ve mixed in all the goodies.
  • I use a springform pan, cover it with foil, and set it on a trivet to cook. This is a handy pan to have as I’ve cooked dinners such as this one, as well as cakes in it too.  I don’t think I’m any different when I say I am a busy mom who doesn’t have a lot of time to cook.

I have 3 busy children and both of us work full time so any time I can create a healthy dinner in about 25 minutes I’m game.

Here’s our meat mixture prepared and ready for a short cook time.

This is what you’ll need and the recipe for our Instant Pot turkey meatloaf

Meatloaf ingredients

  1. Large bowl or small bowl
  2. Foster Farms Organic Ground Turkey
  3. Bread crumbs
  4. Egg
  5. Ranch dressing mix (powdered found in a packet at the store when you’re grabbing your ground turkey)
  6. Onion (can use dehydrated minced if you don’t have fresh)
  7. Worcestershire sauce
  8. Barbecue sauce (to top, or ketchup if you prefer)
  9. 6″ springform pan is helpful
  10. Salt and pepper
  11. Cup of water

If you want to remove the meatloaf at the end and put it under the broiler to crisp you’ll need a sheet pan too.

I smothered our ground turkey meatloaf with barbecue sauce here because it made it prettier. Generally I serve everyone and pour some on top of their piece. The reason I do it that way is for leftovers.

  • I try to use all of the food I make and not let any go to waste. I have made many things with my leftover meatloaf and this one is no exception.

Just 30 minutes later and it’s done!! Pressure cooking rocks.

If you’re wondering why I just don’t put it in my oven I do sometimes. However in the summertime when it is 110 degrees outside I am NOT turning on my oven for anything. That is when using a pressure cooker really helps!

I have a recipe for cooking an entire pressure cooker turkey here and pressure cooker meatloaf and potatoes together as well! Our mashed potatoes are a great side dish.

  • Then make our smoked meatloaf that’s stuffed with cheese and you’ll go crazy.

Note: When I say slow pressure release below I mean that I move the valve ever so slightly so it comes out slowly.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Put all ingredients in a bowl (EXCEPT bbq sauce, that will be later) and mix well, using your hands works best in my opinion.
  • Spray the inside of a 6-7" springform pan and put your meatloaf mixture inside.
  • Pat down so it fills the pan and is even across so it cooks evenly.
  • Put 2 cups of water inside your Instant Pot, then a trivet, and cover your springform pan with aluminum foil.
  • Lower your pan with meatloaf inside down on to your trivet.
  • Put your lid on and close, close steam valve too.
  • Set Instant Pot to high pressure for 20 minutes if using 19 oz. in a 6" pan, if using 1 lb. in a larger 7" pan you will want to cook a bit shorter, like 15 minutes to account for it being a bit thinner.
  • Do a slow release and lift lid carefully.
  • Remove foil, release lock on springform pan, and slice. Pour barbecue sauce over the top and sprinkle with chives.

Tried the recipe!! It was a big hit!! No left overs! No ranch packet No Worcestershire!! 35 miles from the closest store! And it’s storming here! Improvised the best I could with what is on hand! We are out in the boondocks at a fishing cabin!! Added fresh green peppers & onion. Just a couple shakes of Low sodium soy sauce! Used spices as indicated & added chipotle chili pepper spice minced garlic from a jar! Cooked 17 minutes then before broiling used a butter knife poked a few holes in the loaf melted a couple table spoons of butter and poured on top; then broiled the top. Double heavy duty aluminum foil wrapped the loaf worked perfectly! Served with a Caesar salad, steamed fresh veggies & fresh fruit!! Very Easy & ready for the table quickly will definitely prepare this again & again! Please add my email to your mailing list!! I have tried other recipes from the internet and have thrown the meal away no one care for the recipe! This recipe is definitely a keeper!!

Last night, I made this turkey meatloaf recipe using the springform pan and it was easy and delicious! Mouthwatering delicious and so moist and juicy.

I wanted to make mash potatoes to go with so I did the following:

I added peeled quartered potatoes at the bottom with 2 cups of water (8 quart Instant Pot) and added a tall trivet. I put foil at the bottom of the springform pan to catch any drippings since I didn't want the drippings in my potatoes. Added foil on top, closed the lid and set the timer for 20 minutes and did a quick release afterwards.

I placed the springform pan under the broiler until I felt it was ready (5-7 minutes - my broiler is wacky so I have to keep an eye on it).

In the meantime, I poured out 95% of the water out of the Instant Pot's inner pot and placed the inner pot on the counter, leaving the potatoes inside. Added a tablespoon of sour cream, 1/2 stick of butter, two squirts of horseradish (secret ingredient), salt, garlic powder and then took a hand mixer and mixed it all within the Instant Pot's inner pot. Sample taste and added a bit more salt for perfection.

The potatoes came out 100% creamy. The meat loaf was done, served both together side by side on a plate and my partner kept going back for more!!!! Because the meatloaf was in a circle, I sliced it like a pie with a butter knife. My partner and I loved the meal. So full of flavor and hit the spot perfectly and being able to make mash potatoes and meat loaf at the same time and have both come out fantastic made a huge difference!

So, day #2 I decided to take the ground beef that I have in the refrigerator and using same recipe, using most of the ingredients, found it took only five minutes to prepare. I used 1-lb 10 oz and after mixing all the ingredients, split into two. I placed the first half in the springform pan, sprinkled Northwood Seasoning on top, then added shredded Cheddar cheese. Mixed Northwood in the other half, formed a circle to the best I could so I wouldn't mess up the cheese, and added it on top and gently pressed in the sides. 1-lb and 10 oz filled the springform pan to the top! Because I didn't have potatoes underneath this time, I only put foil on top and set the timer for 30 minutes, then did a quick release!

I have the mealthy crisp lid so I removed the foil, added ketchup and did 350 for 6 minutes.

I used this recipe as a base. I ended up using onion soup mix instead of fresh onion and ranch seasoning. Then when it came out of the instant pot I poured a jar of turkey gravy over it and threw it in the oven at 400 while I used the instant pot to make mashed potato’s. Reminded me of the old school turkey loafs but 10x better. Thank you for the inspiration!

I didn't have a spring form or any pan to use for the meatloaf so I made my own out of Heavy Duty foil folded and rounded to make my own 'pan' with the sides up high enough and I put it on the instapot trivet, covered with foil and cooked for 15 minutes (it was only 1 lb of ground turkey). I loved it - did not add any of the bbq sauce, I was fine with it as is. Easy to make an excellent.
