It’s holiday season and that means calories don’t count right? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I mean all in moderation. You should always try something new each year we say, and cheesecake lasagna is one of those musts. If made for Halloween it could be orange and black, or red and green like this. (affiliate links present)

Christmas Dessert Lasagna

We added this new one to our part last year. When getting together our guest list and Cookie Exchange Printables for our party I thought we should try a dish we hadn’t done yet before. This is something I had made “regular” style but colored I thought would be fun since you would see all the layers when sliced into squares.

For dinner we share How to Make Lasagna Step by Step and this one is no different. Even though this is sweet vs. savory it is made a bit the same way. The bottom is baked, then cooled, then the middle is baked, and cooled and then the top the same way.

Peppermint Dessert
red and green dessert

Dessert Lasagna Ingredients

  • 1 roll of sugar cookie dough for crust – you can color red if you like
  • For the cream cheese layer you’ll need
  • 3 blocks cream cheese softened, can color this green with gel colors if you like
  • Sugar
  • eggs
  • Heavy cream
  • Sour cream
  • Vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 c white chocolate chips
  • Butter unsalted, melted
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Christmas Dessert Lasagna with Graham Cracker Crust

The bottom has a lot of options. You can make it with graham cracker crust for cheesecake or with any cookies crushed and mixed with some butter. You just bake for a few minutes the same as this one to create a firmer bottom before adding the filling.

There are TONS of variations you can make to Philadelphia Cheesecake Bars. The middle this time is left as is but you could crush cookies and fold those in. Add sprinkles for color if you like or even swirl a bit of Nutella in there once poured in.

No Bake Version

For a quicker version you could make our No Bake Cheesecake in Mason Jars that has fewer ingredients but more like mousse than the thick cake you’d expect. Both are great topped with whipped topping for a light and fluffy texture over the chocolate cream cheese mixture.

Dessert Lasagna Oreo

Dessert Lasagna with Oreos

Another option for the bottom is to make the graham crust in food processor or with rolling pin, but crush the cookie part of Oreos instead to make chocolate lasagna recipe! No matter which you choose; Line baking pan with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a mixing bowl add the whole tube of sugar cookie dough.

How to Make Cheesecake Lasagna

  • Press this cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the baking dish. Bake for 8 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool. While this cools, make the cheesecake filling, add cream cheese in bowl.
  • Blend with a hand mixer until creamy and smooth. Add the white sugar and blend again until combined.
    • Add in each egg one at a time, mixing between each addition until incorporated. Add the heavy cream, sour cream, vanilla and salt. Can add peppermint extract now.
  • Blend once more until the mixture is combined and smooth. (can add green food dye in this mixture if you’d like). Pour this cheesecake filling on top of the sugar cookie dough crust in the baking dish. Bake in the oven for 45 minutes.
    • The center will still be a bit jiggly, but at this point remove from the oven and let cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour.
  • About 10 minutes before the cheesecake is done cooling, take another clean bowl and add the white chocolate chips and butter.
  • Use the double boiler method and place this over a pot with simmering water. Stir every so often until the chocolate chips have melted and butter is combined. Pour in the sweetened condensed milk. Mix until everything is smooth.

Using a microwave add butter and chips, microwave in 30 second increments stirring after every time until you reach a smooth mixture. Then fold in condensed milk.

Cover and place in the fridge to set and cool for another 2 hours. Cut and enjoy, adding some whipped cream on top of each slice if desired. We added some crushed candy canes as you can see here like our holiday Microwave Peppermint Bark recipe.

Variations

Like I said, there are tons of flavor profiles you could add to these, or leave as is. During Christmas it is nice to add a bit of mint to all the things if you ask me. Throughout the year you could swirl in some peanut butter into the middle and dollops of jam to the top like Cheesecake Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars.

Mini chocolate chips and/or mini marshmallows are fun too on top for texture. As with any of these treats with dairy fillings you will want to wrap tightly with plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Jump to recipe and let us know what you think!

What is the best dessert to serve with lasagna?

Dessert lasagna of course!! Use the same idea with layers of a cream cheese type layer on top of a sugar cookie pie crust topped with melted chocolate. It is a fun way to enjoy a treat that looks like dinner but sweeter.

Can you make cheesecake bars with sugar cookie crust?

Yep, that is a great alternative to graham crackers that is firmer with a softer texture too. Just press cookie dough into your pan like a crust and bake until it is lightly golden brown before adding your filing once that cools.
