The Grinch Dessert Ideas

This Grinch dessert is a no bake Oreo truffles ball that your kids can help you make. Other green desserts here too you can make for Christmas

Grinch Desserts

It’s that time of year again! Put a log on the fire, play a holiday movie and make this Grinch dessert with your family this weekend. Quick easy dessert recipes are my style so it’s no surprise that these were a hit with my kids and didn’t last long with guests over either. (affiliate links present)

Green Desserts

I mean if you are just looking for a green dessert for St. Patricks Day or your child’s favorite color they work too. Just take off the heart and voila.

Use a cute candy cane striped stick in the bottom and they can become Grinch cake pops too in really no extra time. You could use any type of Oreo on the inside but chocolate classic is usually my go to. There are SO many other options out there now though.

From vanilla, to birthday cake, red velvet and even peanut butter go with your favorite “inner flavor” sorta speak. Any variety will work the same way inside your food processor with cream cheese as your binder.

Oreo Cream Cheese Truffles

Once you get the hang of how these are made the possibilities are endless as to the flavors and color options. These are terrific birthday party desserts because there’s no slicing required and they’re really cheap to make for a bunch of people.

  1. Package of Oreo cookies
  2. Softened block of cream cheese
  3. Green candy melts or almond bark with food coloring
  4. Red heart sprinkles

A super easy holiday party baking treat that is actually no bake! Not only kids will love this but adults will get a kick out of these at your Christmas party too.

Grinch Birthday Party

If you’re throwing a Dr. Seuss party these and a few green Grinch cupcakes with the same sprinkle on top will go over well. First you’ll want to lay waxed or parchment paper on baking sheets.

  • Put cookies into a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbles. Cut softened cream cheese and put into machine. Pulse again until a large ball forms.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to portion out this cookie dough into 1″ balls. For best results place on cookie sheet and freeze for an hour before continuing.
  • In a bowl melt chocolate pieces until smooth. Best in 30 second increments stirring in between until smooth.

Use a fork to dip the oreo ball into the melted chocolate and tap for excess to drip off. Place on parchment paper and place 1 heart sprinkle on top. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm and then serve this sweet treat on a cute tray or on top of a Grinch stole Christmas book!

Want to make this into a movie night treat? Grab the Grinch movie on dvd and pop that baby in. Serve hot chocolate with white chocolate shavings inside. Then check our Christmas movies list and watch a classic next.

The Grinch Desserts

  • You could make some green punch and pair it with red straws for fun.
  • We have made this superfood smoothie that is an easy recipe on the healthier end of things but the right color.
  • Any of our green desserts for St. Patrick’s Day will work just as well.
  • Transform these into Grinch cookies by leaving the oreos whole inside and dip those in the same melted mixture with heart sprinkles on top.

These rainbow versions could be altered to just green for Grinch rice krispie treats as well. If you’re in California, check out Grinchmas at Universal Studios during the holiday months too.

No Bake Truffles

I know these do make quite a few. If you have a smaller group you may have a few or a lot left over. If you do make sure you keep them in the fridge so they stay firm. I like freezer bags to save leftovers of any kind. The walls are thicker and keep the moisture inside a lot better.

Since these are small it is easier if you have something flat on the bottom of them like a small non stick cutting board. If not a small Tupperware container will do the trick. If you need to layer more than one put a piece of parchment paper in between so they don’t stick together.

It is better to take hearts off if you can or they may change texture a bit in the bag but it’s not a huge deal either way.
