Salami dill pickle roll ups are such a great appetizer. With a layer of cream cheese and mozzarella balls on top it’s a pretty finger food. Unlike our salami cups these aren’t cooked at all and are quick to prep for any party finger food.
Salami pickle roll ups are the bomb! The best little bites you can make when company comes over for the holidays or the big game. You can change these up a ton of different ways with slices of ham or turkey too. Let’s show you how to make this easy appetizer right now! (post may contain affiliate links)
Salami Roll Ups
These are great bite size cream cheese pinwheels, there are other soft cheeses you could use too though. I will talk about all the variations we have made and others I’m thinking about trying too. I personally love using slices of salami because it has a ton of flavor in every bite and stays together well.
You are going to want a cutting board or large flat plate to get started with this. Plastic wrap is key to making this perfectly too. You’ll want a rolling pin to spread your cream cheese mixture on top of your meat evenly too. Then in the middle you can add all sorts of things but PICKLES are the bestest. 😉
Pickle Salami Roll Ups
You can start the bottom with a large burrito size flour tortilla if you wanted to add another layer. This is more low carb and to me holds more flavor without that.
- Salami slices are best but turkey or deli ham rolls would be great too
- 1 block softened cream cheese
- or softened cheese like Laughing Cow triangle squares, 8 of those
- You can use jarred or this is how to make dill pickles
- Those cute little mozzarella balls or cherry tomatoes could be substituted
- Lettuce leaves are optional for insides, could use diced green onions instead
If you used other types of meat you would still follow the same steps shown below. Make sure the pieces are overlapping so the entire bottom is covered well. If you wanted more of a dill flavor you could make our dill pickle dip and use that instead of the cheese layer, or sprinkle on fresh dill.

Roll Up Appetizers
You really could use any pickled fruits and vegetables on the inside of this. Cover a cutting board or large flat plate with cling film. If you want to roll tortillas in this too add that on the wrap. If not, arrange the salami so that it forms a rectangle. The edges of the salami should overlap.
- Remove the packaging from the room temperature soft cheese. Spread the cheese (if soft enough) or cut into chunks around the top on top of the salami rectangle.
- Cover the top of the cheese with plastic wrap. Spread the cheese layer over the top of the salami pieces evenly by rolling a rolling pin gently over the top. Remove the top cling film.
- Along one long edge of the rectangle, arrange the pickles and lettuce overlapping so whole side is covered.
- Grab the end of the plastic wrap that is underneath the roll on the end with the pickles.
- Roll up the appetizer into a roll, helping yourself with the cling film and lifting it off as you roll each time so it doesn’t get caught inside.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the salami cream cheese roll into portions with a sharp knife.
- Place a small mozzarella ball on top of each thick slice.
- Secure each piece together with a toothpick on top of each one.
- Place pieces on to a serving tray. Decorate the outsides.
** You can replace the mozzarella with cherry tomatoes instead if you prefer, the salad leaves could be green onions alternatively too. Serve salami or ham and pickle rolls with crackers.
Salami Pinwheels
These and our salami cups are fun served on a charcuterie board with different kinds of crackers all around it. That way people can set one on top and enjoy that way or side by side.
These will be fine for an hour or so left on a platter. If they sit much longer I would put the plate in the fridge since there is dairy in it and the meat does soften.
If you are serving these as a football party food you may have some left over, they save quite well if stored properly. You will want to wrap each piece in plastic wrap and store in the fridge.
