We have a few dip for sausage balls recipes to share with you today. I mean you can enjoy them as is because they are wonderfully savory bite sized bits of goodness, but I mean….. Dipping sauces make everything taste better right??

My kids like a bunch of choices when I serve these, but our how to make fry sauce is probably their favorite. I mean you don’t have to live in this state to make and/or enjoy this, we are an equal opportunity state. 😉 It was created in Utah originally though at a burger joint and is now really popular here because….

Sour Cream Dip for Sausage Balls

Well we have a lot of potatoes and thus french fries here and quite frankly if we want a finger food kinda’ meal these are a great duo with this sweet and savory sauce. If you want some heat mixed with sausage or taco balls in you can always add Sriracha or some red pepper flakes into the mixes.

What Can I Dip Sausage Balls in?

Here you can find Lawson’s chip dip. Yes, obviously it is creamy and wonderful with chips but also we like it with these. If you like creamy selections like ranch dressing (which is also a great choice if you want to serve up all the things) this one is great. Dill is just the bomb with everything to me.

Another creamy cream cheese dip works well too. 😉 If you want more and more cheddar, serve with this Velveeta cheese sauce. I mean is there such a thing as too much cheese?? Not in our house this wouldn’t be the case so we love this on broccoli (of course) and ground sausage balls.

I mean does there have to be just one? If I do make these as an easy throw together dinner the kiddos really like it if I bring out ALL THE SAUCES. Then I have small dixie cups next to the plates so they can put a little in each one so each bite is different. Fun idea right??

Mustard Dip

Ok so I have served these alongside air fryer sausage (or brats) and those turned out to be great brunch choices. I thought our pretzel mustard dip would go really well so I whipped up a batch real quick, OMG it was amazing. With a touch of sweetness in there it went well with both and had to share the recipe with others that day.

Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce

Another one that is a bit spicy (but you can adjust that) with bottled sweet chili sauce we called Asian spicy sauce. This is great on all the things including wings, fries, chicken, the list goes on and on. Actually I haven’t found anything I don’t like it on so…..

Surprisingly we use this chicken nugget dipping sauce because it’s sweet and spicy, you can see how great it looks below. It literally goes with anything, especially if you like some heat to your dish. Heck, we have even dipped steamed dumplings inside of it and it was a real hit.

Ingredient Notes

  • Mayonnaise, I like Best Foods better than Miracle Whip for the one below or our pickle and ranch dip.
  • This one too uses that great sweet chili sauce which has a bit of a kick of heat but is more of a medium spice level
  • Sriracha is a great way to make any of these spicy but you should adjust to your liking so start off small and keep testing until it is just right.
  • I like a little squeeze of fresh or bottled lime juice for a kick of freshness, lemon juice would work to
  • And seasoned salt to your liking, just a bit, Lawry’s is our go to brand for that.

No stand mixer is necessary to make the main star for game day y’all. Good old fashioned elbow grease to blend your ingredients together in a small bowl. Jump to recipe below or your favorite selection above and let us know which are your faves!!

Best Dipping Sauce for Sausage Cheddar Balls

To make the other 5 dips listed in this post just click on the blue link of the one you’re curious about and the recipe will be at the bottom of that post. You’ll want a large bowl to make your pork sausage sharp cheddar cheese balls. Large baking sheets are necessary for the oven or you can make our Pressure Cooker Sausage Balls, either in less than 30 minutes prep and cook time.

Can You Make Dip Ahead of Time?

Yes!! If you want to make sausage balls sauces the night before, store in a sealed container like mason jars or squeeze bottles and refrigerate for up to 48 hours. Just know that as it sits it will thicken a bit so when serving you may want to thin with a little broth.

With that said I do not recommend making the actual balls with biscuit mix more than an hour or so before serving. The cooked Italian sausage will hold up but the baking mix won’t be really crispy anymore and the texture is just off if not eaten fresh.

  1. In the ingredients it says 3 pinches of Lawry’s, to taste. Is that Lawry’s season salt or Lawry’s Italian seasoning.
