This is how long to cook broccolini in oven with garlic perfectly. This is the best healthy side dish with a ton of flavor we serve with parmesan on top. If you haven’t tasted this cross between traditional and Chinese broccoli it is so delicious!

Maybe you have seen these stalks at the store but wasn’t sure how to cook them well, we have some help for you here. Coated with olive oil and the best seasonings you can give them the best flavor, tender baked in the oven this week.

Years ago I shared air fryer broccolini which is great, but not everyone wants to use countertop appliances to cook and I get that. When I am baking dinner in the oven this is my go to side for sure because everyone loves it and dark leafy greens are so good for you.

I will say that if you have picky eaters you will want to season it well so they fall in love with these too. I don’t use anything fancy, use the traditional ones with a bit of salt like when we steam broccoli in oven and you are good to go!

A small blue bowl with herb marinade and a spoon—a perfect accent for oven roasted broccolini—rests on a light textured surface.
Fresh broccolini with seasoning drizzled on top, arranged on parchment paper, ready to be transformed into delicious oven roasted broccolini.

I will say the trick to getting these stalks super flavorful is to mix the oil and herbs together and gently rub over each one with your hands gently. Get in there friends, that is key to perfection I tell you.

Ingredient Notes

You will want about 2 broccolini stalks per person so buy however many you are serving. I will say that 10-12 will fit on a sheet pan in a single layer so if you are feeding a crowd you may need two trays full.

You’ll want some good extra virgin olive oil to coat the outsides to keep them nice and moist, and it will allow it to crisp to a light golden brown too. You don’t want to drench them but just enough to glisten the florets and stems.

As for the seasonings I don’t really measure but I did this time for those of you who don’t want to go with a pinch of this or that. They need to be salted a bit for sure but beyond that just go with garlic powder, thyme, oregano and maybe some basil.

Variations

You could make this spicy if you wanted to. I would suggest dicing up some roasted jalapenos. Keep in mind that even 1/2 will really add some heat. You can tame it down by removing the seeds and membrane though.

How Long to Cook Broccolini in the Oven

You will need about 10 minutes for these to bake properly. Now there is a range because the thicker they are the longer they will take to reach fork tender status. I prefer thin pieces so I reduce the time in that case to close to 7 minutes so they don’t get too soft.

Frozen Broccolini in Oven

You will want to add 3-5 minutes like we did with our roasted frozen broccoli recipe. The biggest thing to remember with this is to separate the pieces from one another. Still rub the oil and seasonings before baking and you will be surprised at how well this turns out.

How to Serve

When serving with your main meal you can do so as is and they are wonderful. However, I do like to add a little this or that to the top for more wow. In this case I like grated parmesan cheese and a light squeeze of lemon on the top is a great choice too!

I will cook chicken, pork or beef baked riblets in oven as the main dish on another pan first, until they are almost done. Then pop this pan in on another rack and serve with these on the side. It is always a win with the picky hubby and girls. 😉
