Free printable chore charts for you to print out and a list of chores for kids appropriate for each age. Making chores fun is possible.
Do your kids have household chores they need to complete on a weekly basis? Or would you like to incorporate a chore chart with them right about now?? I have 3 girls of different ages who do a variety of chores around the house. I have free printable chore charts to share with you to use too here. Sponsored by Downy Wrinkle Releaser.
Chore Charts for Kids
- Of course you could keep track of a child’s progress with their chores on a piece of paper. But we are talking about kids and they are looking for fun!!
Just adding this printable chart on the wall for each girl gave them more motivation to finish. That way they could mark off what they did!
There are a lot of things children in elementary school can do well. Dusting, emptying the trash cans, and yes even vacuuming. Saddling a 7 year old with vacuuming the entire house isn’t realistic. On our 2 a day chore chart the requirement for them to check that box is for them to choose a room and vacuum that.

This includes taking the attachment off and going into the cracks between the wall and carpet. Gotta’ get into the little crannies and edges of the room.
The requirement for my 15 year old however is either vacuuming upstairs or downstairs that day. Especially f you have a newer vacuum it shouldn’t be too heavy to push back and forth for a 8 year old or so.
Believe me, they can do it! If they choose to check the dusting box that means tackling one room as well.
Chore Chart Printable
Once you print out the Free printable chore chart we use (there is a blank version below too). THEY have the ability to choose which two chores they want to complete each day. This gives them a sense of control and accomplishment when they are done each day.
List of chores on our Free printable chore chart are as follows:
- Dusting
- Vacuuming
- Emptying the trash
- Ironing (with Downy® Wrinkle Releaser Plus – will show you that below)
- Helping with dishes
Of course emptying the trash is something children of various ages can do. The older they are the more should be expected of them.
Chores for Kids
For my 7 year old that means choosing 2 rooms in the house. She’s responsible for taking out the bag that is full, tying it shut, and replacing the bag in the trash can. The 2 bags go out to the large can outside and done.
- For my 15 year old it means doing the same thing except it includes taking the large bins out to the curb each week, and then back into the backyard once they’ve been emptied.
- Together you need to come up with what is appropriate for each child in your house in order for them to color or check that box and complete.
Ironing is a chore that my oldest daughter is expected to do, especially now that she has a band uniform that needs to be cleaned and looking nice for competition days. Of course I first had to teach her how to properly iron her dress shirt and slacks, but now there’s a new product called Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus that made it a whole lot easier for her!
Chores for Teenagers
With a light spray (that makes her clothing smell quite nicely I add) it allows her to straighten the wrinkles in just a pull and a few light tugs on her shirt. SO easy!
Yes I could have them dry cleaned but she is more than capable of making sure she has a presentable uniform each week. It saves me money as well! Now she can easily take care of her uniform needs each week without the worry of a hot iron, love that.
Just spray fabric with a sweeping motion until slightly damp, tug & smooth your article of clothing until wrinkles are released, and then hang. It works amazingly well!

I love this idea. My girls could use some orgqanization into what is expected for chores.
What a great printable chore chart! I need to print this out asap for my home.
I need to download the chart. It will help me keep track the chores that I have completed easily.
Your chore chart is something convenient to have at home. It will certainly help keep everyone organized and on-track thus making sure that all work’s done.
I need to download this chore chart. I have taught all of my kids how to do certain age appropriate chores since they were little. My hope was to teach them life skills so that they had the skills for when they moved out.
Love your chart and the whole idea! My son has 3 chores he does every week and we reward him for completing them!
