Crispy air fryer spinach chips are the bomb! A healthy snack with tons of flavor and fun to eat, make these really crispy as Ninja Foodi kale chips or in your Cosori this week for a fun side dish with dinner too.
Ever thought of the idea of making air fryer spinach? Not the mushy kind you’d use in quiche but crispy crunchy bits of green vegetable goodness! I bet your mouth is watering looking at the picture above too. You will love this easy air fryer recipe too once you try it. (affiliate links present)
Ninja Foodi Spinach
Ok so we started all of this because my kids LOVED the kale chips I made when we got this pot. Yes I too was apprehensive with this love/hate veggie but I kid you not these are amazing. Then we made air fryer cucumber chips and were hooked!
Then we made Instant Pot spinach. Great as a side dish with chicken it isn’t my favorite texture. I guess that is my biggest issue, not necessarily with the flavor of it. Make it like a chip though and OMG are these so good.

Can you cook frozen spinach in the air fryer?
If you want to make tender greens instead of chips follow our directions on how to cook frozen spinach using air crisp mode. You would get a more tender texture than this one because that is already cooked and you are just defrosting and warming it this way. Both are wonderful.
What you need to make these is pretty basic, 3 ingredients and voila. THIS is the biggest tip by far that you have to remember. The drier the outside of the leaves are the crispier they’ll cook up. I just use a few paper towels and roll them up very gently so any liquid on the leaves is absorbed. Then you can spray on your oil.
Spinach Chips Air Fryer
- Fresh spinach leaves
- Olive oil spray
- Sea salt is best, a little larger than table salt.
You could even sprinkle on some chili flakes or dry Sriracha to add a bit of heat. The nice part is that these, and our air fryer jicama fries, use no breading at all. That makes them much lower in carbs and a keto friendly option that are great for you.
You don’t want to drench your pieces and weigh them down, that is why spray vs. drizzling is best. You can always season at the end too so don’t add too much at the beginning. There is nothing worse than a meal coming out perfect except there is too much salt which ruins it.
Yes. Both are packed with vitamin K, fiber, iron and calcium too. Don’t be alarmed if your pee or otherwise is a bit tinted though at the end of the day, kinda’ an after affect of consumption. Both are healthy snacks that even kids love.
How long do you cook chips in an air fryer?
6-8 minutes! These aren’t the only vegetables chips you can make into snacks though. We have made sweet potato chips and apple chips in air fryer with fruit too. Veggies do NOT need to be boring my friends. Make them fun especially if you have kids so they gain an appreciation for their natural flavors.
Mine are at the point where they’d rather eat a plate full of greens than meat any day of the week. I mean balance is everything and everything in moderation but when it comes to vegetarian dishes you really can’t go overboard.
Air Fryer Sea Salt Lime Spinach Chips
If you wanted to add a bit of Mexican flare a squeeze of fresh lime juice with the olive oil is a fun add in too. Combine that with a pinch of chili powder for added WoW.
- Lay down a few paper towels folded. Pour leaves on top and gently roll them up to remove the water from the outside. The drier they are without water the crispier they will get.
- Put into a bowl and spray with olive oil so all pieces are coated but not drenched. Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F.
- Sprinkle sea salt on and toss so all pieces have salt. Spray air fryer basket with olive oil spray and pour in spinach.
Cook for about 6 minutes cook time (depending on how dry they are). Toss after minute 3 so they get nice and crispy. If after this time they aren’t as crisp as you’d like add 1 more minute at a time until they are perfect.
Can you put greens in the air fryer?
This “magic machine” gives everything a deep fried texture on the outside without submerging it in oil, so less fat! It’s a win win. Yes you can try other favorite produce too. You should definitely make air fryer vegetables with zucchini and squash mixed but this just takes it a step further to living a healthy life.
Easy and delicious, there you have it my friends! If you are still hesitant because it “just doesn’t sound good” you really have to give this air fried vegetables idea a try.
Want to try these baked in the oven too? You can use our baked kale chips recipe for instructions and timing. It works the same way with both except with this you don’t have to remove any stems.
