How to make slime with glue
There are 2 different ways you can make this and I will explain them both. The first way you will need the following items;
- Borax / boric acid should only be handled by adults of course
- White School Glue is easiest to find but there are clear out there too that will show the glitter better
- Glitter with all the colors is the most fun to choose
- Food Coloring – you should slowly add if you use it, a little goes a long way
- Water
Of course you can add other little add ins as well as you see below. If you want to include treasures you can find little beads and things at the craft store that are fun for kids to feel.

Making Slime with Glue
Here are the instructions you’ll need to make this right at home:
- First pour 4 ounces of glue into a bowl and add 1/2 c. water and mix well.
- I like to use plastic bowls and spoons so I can throw them away when done. It’s a bit hard to clean otherwise.
- Then add 3-4 drops of any color food coloring and your glitter (start with a tablespoon, you can add more later if you want).
- Mix well.
- In another bowl add 1/2 tsp. borax to 1/4 c. hot water and mix until it is dissolved.
- Add to your glue mixture and stir well.
- Mix with your hands for about a minute kneading until all liquid is gone and it is pliable.
- if it’s too sticky add a bit more of your borax solution, add 1 tablespoon at a time until it stiffens up
- It’s ready to start playing with the slime! Store it in a ziploc bag so it won’t dry out.
If you’re looking for a second 2 ingredient slime to make try our easy laundry detergent slime we just made today! It is simple with only a few things needed, but as always adult supervision is needed when using chemicals of any kind. That one is typically blue when done because of the Tide (recommended) and the most pliable.

Looking for something to do on a rainy day with kids, this might be your new obsession. I know it was my daughter’s (featured in the video) for a long long time. She loved to see how liquids would transform to a sort of solid in front of her eyes. Of course for the ones with chemicals I was always with her when she made it but she could do it basically.
It was also something she could do with her friends as a group, especially the recipes that were completely safe using things like marshmallows or candies melted. Edible is really fun for kids since they can essentially eat their toys at the end of the afternoon. Try them all and see which are your child’s favorite ones.
This actually works thank you so much:))))

I am in Brisbane right now but I don’t know if they have borax do use know?
@Teanna, Yes they do
Borax is meant for laundry and can be dangerous when handled. It has been known to make people sick when used in this way. Please be cautious.
I’m using baking soda instead of borax.
How did it turn out after using baking soda?
How did the baking soda work?
Did this work well?
A slime success! Thank you.
Yeah!!
How do you make slime with white glue but not with borax cos borax is dangerous
I haven’t tried it yet but the problem is that I don’t have borax but I will just have to use another detergent
Do not think it will work with an alternative. Always be careful when not following initial instructions as I do not know the outcome.
