Want to try air frying onion rings too? YES there is a difference and they’re way better than baking for sure.
Well when I first started creating Ninja Foodi recipes I was kinda’ starting from scratch since it was such a new machine.
I wondered a lot how long should I air fry? certain foods that it was easier to write them all down.
- After I collected a lot of air fry times that worked well for me I decided to create a list to keep on my fridge.
- Since I am all about sharing I thought I’d share with all of you too because I couldn’t be alone in this journey.
Well that depends on what you’re making. I will say that everything I have cooked has taken a lot less time than in the oven. It takes 5 minutes to preheat, so add that to your total cook time.
Yes, in a way. You cannot use a wet coating like tempura batter, but rather a nice egg and breadcrumb coating works well like with our air fryer zucchini.
What temperature do you air fry?
Again, that depends on what you’re making. If you want air fryer tilapia it would be set lower than air fryer baked potatoes for example. Typically though the temp. will be between 325 and 400 degrees F. Higher will create a crispier exterior but you want enough time for the insides to become tender.
How do you convert baking time to air fryer?
It is hard to say exactly but typically you are looking at half as long. I usually will use the same temperature suggested for baking in the oven. It is just a smaller area therefore it heats contents quicker.
You can grab a copy of our printable when clicking on the link at the very bottom of this post. Here are a few air fryer recipes you should try out once you have the timing sheet:
- I used this to figure out how long to cook air fryer mushrooms. We make these as a side dish with air fryer frozen chicken breast.
- Air fryer calamari is out of this world as a snack or appetizer, we’ll teach you how to cook calamari perfectly with this “magic machine”.
It’s been invaluable to know how to cook my air fryer cauliflower so it was the right texture, and ensure my air fryer zucchini chips came out perfectly.
Do you preheat an air fryer?
I almost always do at the temp. you need for 5 minutes before adding any food inside the basket.
- If you do not preheat your dish may take a bit longer to cook.
- Preheating takes about 3 minutes and I would recommend it if you remember, but if not don’t fret.
My Cosori has a preheat button which I love which makes things easier.

I have a Ninja Foodi Flexdrawer. It has the following settings for cooking: Max Crisp, Air Fry, Roast and Bake. Should all of your recipes be cooked using the ‘Air Fry’ function?
Many thanks,
Sarah (air fryer newbie)
Yes the air fry is air fryer mode
Thank you for the recipes, I have a similar chart on my PC, used a spreadsheet. I wasn’t able to print yours I’m no longer a member of Pintress
@Dusty, I thought that too, but actually there’s a link on both sheets to a pdf 🙂
What I don’t get is 55 mins for pork loin (unless something’s different in the UK). I’m using a ‘Meater’ ( which has been amazing in the air fryer) and pork loin was pulled at 6m30s @ 58C, then ‘resting’ and searing 4m on a tava (like a pan), and rising to 73.5C internal. (Prep: avocado oiled, paprika, garlic, rosemary, salt, pepper and herbs.)
Another time, beaten thin, oiled, dipped in egg, then Panko crumbed, with herbs, turmeric, salt, pepper and a touch of chili powder. This was crispy escallop style and excellent, served with sweet potato + curly kale + broccoli mash, and steamed green beans.
The great thing for me is retaining the notes in the Meater app. I wouldn’t have had a clue about cooking times without it. I believe some air fryers have a meat thermometer built in.
@Dusty, I should have said ‘pork loin steaks’ for the info I gave, sorry. I’m using a Ninja like Justine’s. I also use it for cooking sour-dough bread loaves with surprising success ; I occasionally add a few raisins and broken walnut kernels which make a pleasant change. Cooking time is typically 25 minutes, and I put a few of spoons of water in the bowl to provide steam. The bread keeps fresh for a week or more if you keep it in a poly-bag in the fridge.
My air fryer is not the basket kind it has metal shelves. Will it work the same using your recipes
Yes I have one of those too, works basically the same.
I would like a copy, thanks.
So glad I found you. Your recipes look yummy I am learning new things about cooking with the aifryer. I have a Ninja double basket and a Bella double basket. Need a larger one for cooking when company is over. Thanks for sharing I know I come to the right place.
