Air Fryer Breakfast Burritos

These are very similar to our air fryer chimichangas. That time we added shredded chicken, chiles, cheese, and tried to make them as crispy as deep fried. These don’t need to toast quite as long but can depending on your preference. We’re always looking for a great start to every day so eggs and sausage were added this time.

My husband loves small diced pieces of steak bites inside so if I have that I’d throw that in too. A great way to use up leftovers from the night before for sure. I mean anything goes really. You could even make a vegetarian version if you wanted them meat free.

Ninja Foodi Breakfast Burrito

You can use any brand of machine you have but if you have a Foodi you can literally cook everything for the insides right inside the inner pot. Use the lid that is attached with the air crisp button too. I’ll explain how you’d do just that here. If you don’t you can prep most of it but will need to make the eggs in a pan on your stovetop.

Filling Ideas

  1. You can make Ninja Foodi scrambled eggs or an omelette of sorts here.
  2. Bacon in air fryer is easy no matter what brand you have at home.
  3. If you want another meat you can cook up some air fryer sausage and dice it up.
  4. Another favorite would be air fryer mushrooms or my husbands favorite would be a bunch of air fryer bell peppers.

Beyond that you’d want seasonings you want, could include some defrosted frozen hashbrowns and we add lots and lots of cheeses of all kinds.

How to Make Low Carb Breakfast Burritos

If you want a low carb version you can use these tortillas with 1 carb to each one! Then fill with all your proteins and crisp until perfect. This will be a game changer if you’re looking to broaden your keto recipe choices for sure. Customize to your hearts content.

Air Fryer Chicken Burritos

These make great leftover chicken recipes for sure. If you have shredded, diced, grilled or baked don’t throw that away! With some cheese, add some heat or just flavor with mild hatch chiles, and a drained can of black beans you can transform it into a winner for dinner.

What temperature do you cook an air fryer burrito?

For the most part you are just warming the outsides so 3-4 minutes at about 380 F. usually works just fine. More or less cook time will depend on how large it is and how brown you want it to be.

So get to prepping your favorite inners and create an assembly line to fill them all up.

How Long to Cook Bacon and Egg Wrap in Air Fryer

The smaller your wrappers are the more you’ll fit in at the same time. I’d choose regular which is in the middle of the burrito size and soft taco size. That is what we use all the time to make quesadillas too. The perfect size if you ask me that typically can cook 4 at a time in about 4 minutes or until golden brown.

If you don’t want to bother rolling them up you could just fold over in half and crisp real good like an air fryer taco instead. I mean there isn’t much of a difference except we crisp those a lot longer with a bit of olive oil spray so they taste deep fried.

Freezer Breakfast Burrito

My youngest is the picky one so she is only about good old fashioned bean and cheese. That works great too and talk about a cheap meal for sure. You can use canned or our homemade refried beans recipe which is incredible. I even make these with dairy free cheese for my husband and you can’t tell the difference.

How to Cook Burritos in Air Fryer

  • Whisk the eggs together with the milk, salt and pepper, and onion powder until frothy.
    • Heat a 12 inch skillet over medium heat.
      • (or set your Ninja Foodi to saute and use the inner pot as a skillet).
  • Place the butter into the skillet or pot and melt completely, swirling to cover the bottom of the skillet. Add the whisked egg. Cook, stirring often to scramble, until the eggs are completely set.
  • Pour cooked eggs on to a plate and use same pan or pot to break up and cook ground sausage until it is no longer pink. Drain and set aside on a 2nd plate.
  • To make the burritos, place a tortilla on a work surface. Add about 1/4 cup of scrambled eggs to the tortilla. Top the eggs with about 2 tablespoons of cooked sausage.
    • Top the crumbled or diced up sausage patties with about 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese
  • Fold the tortilla side into the middle. Then, fold over the third side and roll the center over to close. To crisp the burritos, preheat your air fryer and place 1-2 in the air fryer basket with the seam side up with a toothpick to hold it together.
    • Spray tops with olive oil spray and set to 380 degrees for about 4 minutes until the tortilla begins to brown.
    • Serve the burritos with salsa and/or fresh fruit if desired.

The process for prep will take about 15 minutes, depending on how many you’re making of course. Then air fried time of just a few to crisp and you’re ready!

Freezer Breakfast Burrito Recipe

Now what if you want to make a bunch of these so that you or your kids can defrost one at a time and lend to easier prep. You should totally do that, freezer meals are the best. Add all the things y’all, enjoy a few and save the rest for a rainy day sorta’ speak.

How do you store breakfast burritos in the freezer?

Once you have cooked in the insides on stovetop or Crockpot scrambled eggs, fill the tortillas and wrapped them up you’ll want to wrap each one up. Only one in each piece of foil is best and wrap those babies tight. Lay on a baking sheet in one layer and slide into your freezer.

Once frozen solid (a few hours minimum) take them out and throw them into a large freezer bag to store. I don’t like using plastic wrap as it doesn’t protect the outside as well and can cause it to get freezer burn a bit on the outside.

How to Cook Frozen Breakfast Burritos in Air Fryer

You will do the same for this as with other fillings. Preheat to 380 F for 5 minutes then lay in as many as you’d like. Cook for a total of 15 minutes flipping over every 5 minutes until middle is warmed to your liking.

Now jump to recipe and take out all your favorite fillings to make these babies all up. There is nutritional information below but that will vary depending on the ingredients you use.
