Homemade air fryer cornbread with cornmeal in a bundt pan saves room in your oven during the holidays. You can add all sorts of things inside like chiles or jalapenos to make it spicy too.

Have you made cornbread in air fryer yet? It’s a great easy and cheap side dish alongside any meal. Make it sweet or savory with diced chiles and it’s moist every time. A Southern dish that goes with all the things for dinner or a cook out. One of our favorite air fryer recipes. (affiliate links present)

You can use any brand of machine you have to make this. I’ve used my Cosori, Airwave and Ninja Foodi as well. They all come out fluffy and fantastic. With the latter you will use the lid that is attached and the air crisp button. You could also make our pressure cooker cornbread with this brand, with the other lid that is not attached. ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you’ve made our air fryer bread before you know how easy it is to bake in an air fryer. Now it is time to try something new with this creation. It is a nice small batch that feeds 4-6 people and so pretty using a small bundt pan.

Ingredient Tips

We made homemade cornbread from scratch this time with the base as Albers Cornmeal. You do need to add some All purpose flour to thicken the batter. Make sure you measure flour properly or it will become dense.

Butter will give it that buttery rich flavor to it but there are dairy free alternatives out there if you need that. Egg is a great binder for everything to stick together.

Buttermilk is better than milk for a more dense outcome. You can make this with milk and some lemon juice if need be. You want it to be as moist as possible to go your favorite 5 ingredient Crockpot chili. Add some Sugar, just a bit will add that sweetness you would expect. Sugar free Splenda could be an alternative.

Baking soda and baking powder will help it rise and some Salt is needed for the savory element to it to balance all the flavors out. To add a bit of spicy you could make smoked chiles and dice up or use canned.

with Jiffy

Alternatively you can go with the easiest one. Just mix the ingredients on the box to make Jiffy Mexican cornbread batter instead and use that. 1 box will do it. Poured into a mini bundt pan, it comes out really pretty too.

Equipment needed

Non stick cooking spray is important so it will slide out. And you will need some aluminum foil to cover the top so it bakes evenly and the top doesn’t burn. You will need a 7″ bundt pan to fit inside the drawer. The same as we have used for air fryer banana bread. I like to cool before removing from pan for 15 minutes and do so on a cooling rack.

Instructions

  • In a bowl mix dry ingredients. In another bowl add melted butter and remaining wet ingredients, stir both.
A clear measuring cup labeled "good cook" is filled with flour-like powder, about up to the 2-cup mark. It sits on a kitchen counter beside a white mixing bowl and a yellow butter package, ready for whipping up some delicious air fryer cornbread.
  • Add wet ingredients into dry bowl and stir until combined.
  • Preheat air fryer to 330 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  • Spray 7" bundt pan with non stick spray and pour batter inside leaving 1" space left at the top, there will be a bit of batter left over.
A bundt pan filled with uncooked cornbread batter is placed on a countertop. The batter appears smooth and creamy, ready for baking in an air fryer. The pan is made of dark, non-stick material with a central tube for even cooking.
  • Cover pan loosely with foil and put into air fryer basket.
  • Cook at 330 degrees covered for 35 minutes. Then remove foil and increase temperature to 350 F and cook for another 9 minutes.

How Long to Bake Cornbread in Air Fryer

In this case it is a mini size and takes about 45 minutes. You could do the same thing in the oven, and/or in a regular size but the cook time would need to increase because you’d need much more batter to fill 2/3 of the way full. Crockpot cornbread takes the longest but a fun experiment to try too.

Air Fryer Cornbread Muffins

If you want a faster cook time you will want to use the recipe below with the timing for our air fryer muffins. For those you would use silicone muffin cups to pour your batter inside. Another cooking hack like our cornmeal muffins with the same batter that “bakes” even faster.
