Air fryer bread is so easy to make! Baking bread is sometimes a very lengthy process, unless you have an easy air fryer recipe like this one! Of course you can make it in any brand you have and enjoy at breakfast time or with dinner. (affiliate links present)
Air Fryer Bread with Yeast
Baking in an air fryer opens up a world of possibilities. Quick and easy option when it is summertime and you donโt want to heat up your entire house with the oven.
In this go around we are starting from scratch. You could use frozen bread dough as well but we will go over that later as the timing would be a bit different. With this small appliance, baking bread at home has never been easier I tell you!
Ingredients
- All purpose flour, make sure to measure flour properly or it wonโt work correctly and will be too dense
- Active dry yeast is what will make this baby rise.
- Sugar is needed with your yeast
- Warm water to active yeast
- Milk should be full fat, whole, or at least 2%
- Salt for a bit of flavor
- Vegetable oil is best for this one
- Melted butter or dairy free alternative works
Equipment
You will need 2 mini loaf pans to make this to start with. Since all air fryer baskets are different sizes and shapes you may be able to fit both pans, or one at a time. If you used a round springform pan the timing would not be accurate below, youโd need longer.
You just need a few homemade white bread ingredients to get started. You can see them here below. If you have never really baked from scratch like this before donโt worry. We make everything as easy as possible on our site because yeast used to freak us out too.
For a quick idea you can follow our frozen biscuits in air fryer directions but this is so much better if you have the time. If you have prepared dough like this before it isnโt much different, just maybe a smaller amount.
How to Bake Bread in Air Fryer
- Allow the bread dough to rise for about an hour. This is an important step so that it becomes light and perfect.
- Once you split your dough into two equal pieces and place it into your pans, it will need to rise again.
- As soon as the dough rises just above the lip of the pans, theyโre about ready to bake. You want them to get golden brown on the top with a short cooking time.

With this machine you are going to use the lid that is attached and the air crisp button. Use the trivet that is included to keep it lifted off of the bottom so the hot air can circulate all around the loaf to bake evenly.
Tips
Remember that you never want to overwork or mix dough too much. If you do it will not be as fluffy as youโd like. Only spray lightly with non stick cooking spray too. Adding too much can inhibit the bread from rising. It needs to grab ahold of the sides of the pan. And always pre heat your machine, this goes for making air fryer banana bread with mashed bananas too.
How long should bread rest after baking?
Itโs important to allow bread to cool all the way, barely warm. It will continue to cook in the pans as it cools which is a necessary step for perfection. Simple rolls will take only about 20 minutes. Bread in loaf pans can take as long as 1 hour. Since these are smaller versions it is closer to 35 minutes or so.
How do you know when bread is done baking?
Most people use a toothpick or knife in the middle to ensure it comes out clean. You can also remove the loaf and knock on the bottom. If it sounds hollow itโs done! Also, If it stays down when touched then it needs a few more minutes, then check it again.

Air Fryer Bread Recipe

- 1 air fryer
Ingredients
- 1/4 c water, warm
- 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 c milk, warm
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 c all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl whisk warm water, sugar, and yeast together. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes or until it appears bubbly and foamy.
- Add milk and whisk again. Add salt and vegetable oil. Whisk again. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time, combining well until it forms a ball.
- Continue kneading dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, rolling it to cover all sides in oil.
- Cover bowl with a thick kitchen towel and allow the dough to rise for about an hour. This time will depend on the temperate and humidity level of your kitchen. When it doubles in size, punch it down and knead it for 1 minute.
- Split dough in half and form each piece into a loaf shape. Put dough in oiled mini loaf pans. Cover with a kitchen towel and allow the dough to rise (about 30 minutes) again until it is about an inch above the pan.
- Brush each loaf with melted butter. Place pans in your air fryer basket. Air fry at 330 degrees for 12 minutes.

How long to cook bread in air fryer
The timing is quick once your dough is risen and ready for some heat. You are looking at just 12 minutes for mini loaves like we feature here but it does take about an hour and a half to prepare beforehand so keep that in mind.
I have an air fryer oven that will fit a regular loaf pan. Since the temperature is so low 330ยฐ F can it be done in a glass pan and how long should I bake it for? I hope this recipe will make 1 regular loaf.

If you use instant yeastโฆ(store in freezer, donโt have to be concerned about getting old)instant yeast isi mixed with DRY ingredients. No need to mix with liquids and sugar! Can you please tell me the weight of ingredients in grams or ounces instead of measuring cups as we donโt use measuring cups in the UK.
@Ana Moore, Surely it would be easier to use a measuring cup than to use a scale for every single item?
@Ana Moore, I had to try and convert the measurements, not sure if I did it right but I only had enough dough for one very small loaf. Frustrating when most recipes are now in cups, alternative measurements should be available on the recipe too.

@Lentigo, using cups is measuring by volume and not weight. This makes a vast difference when baking especially when baking bread where it is vital to get the balance correct.
@Lentigo, It may be easier, but it doesnโt weigh correctly. Cups measure by volume and not by weight, so Ana is quite correct and this is why Sammiโs bread didnโt turn out the same. Dependent on the ingredients used is the amount in grams or ounces a cup or part of a cup would be; so absolutely vital for bread recipes. For example a quarter cup:

ยผ cup honey/syrup/molasses โ 85g

Have you ever shaped the open loafs on top of a flat surface instead of pans? I use that making it in the oven a lot. Might help prevent doughy bottoms?
