We made the first recipe for Ninja Foodi corned beef and cabbage for St Patricks Day (the others online are copies). It is the best way to cook corned beef brisket to tender in about an hour and we even have tips on how to cook Instant Pot frozen corned beef if you’re forgetful.

Are you looking to make corned beef and cabbage in Ninja foodi pressure cooker soon?? We were one of the first blogs to create successful Ninja Foodi recipes to share with all of you and the Foodi company actually asked us to share this recipe on their page since they hadn’t perfected it themselves yet!
We are only going to use the pressure cook button for about 1.5 hours and the lid that is not attached for this go around. At the end you can make it over the top delicious with our mustard sauce for corned beef or air fry it for just a few minutes to bake that on the top. OMG so good.
We will guide you thru cooking a brisket in this machine, step by step, in the recipe card below. It is easy to do with potatoes and beer, that is it!! Then you can throw together our pressure cooker fried cabbage after, or separately in another pot and serve together.

I promise, that once you try this popular St. Patrick’s Day dinner this way you’ll never make it any other way again. It is just so tender and full of flavor I tell you. Made basically the same as our Instant Pot corned beef and cabbage directions, but specifically for this multi cooker.
Do you rinse corned beef before cooking?
Please don’t. Whether you bought a ready to cook corned beef or you cured your own, if you rinse the meat you’ll be rinsing away all the flavor! The whole reason this cut of meat is so flavorful is because it is fully infused with a brine. Some do choose to run it under cold water to reduce the sodium intake, but just know it will drastically change the flavor you love.
Is flat cut or point cut better?
Sometimes you don’t have a choice between a flat or point cut, the store just has one type. BUT if I had a choice I would probably choose flat cut hands down because it is generally the same thickness vs. having one end at a point and less of it so that will dry out more.
Ingredient Notes
Corned beef brisket is needed, 3 lbs. is usually best. I have cooked both a point cut brisket and flat cut and the timing is the same. You will use the small seasoning packet too that comes with it inside the bag.
Potatoes are used instead of trivets to keep it off the bottom of the pot. You don’t want it to sit in the liquid or it will either trigger the burn notice or get a bit softer on that side. I use either 4 large red potatoes or 2 large russets. If you wonder why I use potatoes as trivets instead of using a trivet with handles it’s because these babies soak up all the flavors inside the pot which makes these out of this world.
As for the liquid to steam it I like Beer, I just buy what is on sale but a light ale is nice. You can use anything though but you need something to bring the pot to pressure and break down the connective tissues to get it to a fork tender texture.
If you want to just steam Cabbage on the top you’ll only use the top large 8-10 pieces.
You can add some Onions sliced too, optional but a great addition to serve as an easy side dish with the potatoes.
Variations and Substitutions
You can substitute for water or broth if you’d prefer but the beer makes it taste amazing. Use whatever type you like, I prefer blonde ale but you do need the amount of liquid posted below.
We like to serve with mustard or whisk in a bit of honey to make a savory sweet spread once it is done!! Yes, we are using potatoes as a trivet!! That means they will become yummier than you could ever imagine. You could use a steamer basket or trivet though.
We don’t really drink beer here so I only have it on hand to make this and our 3 ingredient beer bread which is actually a great side with this!

In the past we only made slow cooker corned beef brisket and it was fabulous but this comes out just as good in just a fraction of the time so we have never done it any other way since the Foodi came out.
How Long do you cook Ninja Foodi corned beef brisket?
Actual cook time is 1 hour 25 minutes but other factors should be considered. It will take 15 minutes to allow the pressure to naturally release when done and it will take about 20 minutes for the initial pressure to build up in order for the timing to actually start. So…add that up…..
Should you put the fat side up or down when cooking corned beef brisket?
This piece was quite lean. Whatever you have, put the fattiest side facing up. This will allow all those juices and moisture to melt off and drip across the rest to keep it nice and tender.
Can you cook corned beef, cabbage and potatoes in the same pot?
Yes, brisket and potatoes can be cooked together but cabbage should not be added into your pot until the end. The leaves don’t take but a few minutes to get tender so wait until the end to achieve the perfect texture overall. I use whole russet potatoes as trivets most of the time actually!

Ninja Foodi Corned Beef and Cabbage Recipe
Equipment
- 1 ninja foodi pressure cooker
Ingredients
- 2.5-3 lb corned beef brisket, flat cut is best
- 12 oz beer, pale ale, or any other liquid works
- 4 large potatoes, red or 2 large russet cut in half
- 1 small onion, sliced, optional
- 1/2 head cabbage, green
Instructions
- Rinse potatoes. If using large red potatoes set them in the middle close together, use similar sizes so you can set beef on top of them. If using 2 large russets slice them both in half and set them cut side down into middle of pot. These will be your trivet.
- Set corned beef piece on top of potatoes so it sits flat.
- Pour beer on top of meat.
- Sprinkle packet of corned beef seasoning on top of meat, it is included inside your meat pouch.
- Close your pressure cooking lid (one that isn’t attached), and close steam valve.
- Turn Ninja Foodi on, then press pressure button. Set to high for 1 hr 25 minutes (for 2.5-3 lbs. this time works well). Press start. Allow to naturally release pressure for about 15 minutes when done.
- Release rest of steam if there is any after about 15 min. Remove piece of corned beef and set on cutting board, cover.
- Remove potatoes, put in a bowl and cover so they stay warm.
- Cut bottom off cabbage and separate the top layer of leaves so you have about 8-10 large pieces. Slice your onion into large pieces.
- Add onions into pot with juices, then add cabbage leaves.
- Put pressure lid back on. Close steam valve. Turn pot on, press pressure, high for 3 minutes. Press start.
- Do a quick release when done.
- Slice corned beef and serve with some potatoes, onions, and cabbage from the pot. Enjoy

What can you make with leftover corned beef?
This pressure cooker corned beef soup is something we always look forward to the next day. With a chowder creamy like base this meat adds a ton of flavor and protein to it. Add potatoes for a hearty meal you will want to make over and over again with your Homemade corned beef hash.

This is such a great way to make corned beef & cabbage! Looks delicious. 🙂
Is there something I can use besides beer? I can’t stand beer, and I know everyone always says you can’t taste it. It’s a mind thing with me, I swear I can taste it in things.
Totally, just use any liquid like water or broth
Adding carrots and turnip! Would I add at beginning with potatoes?
Cooking it now 30 minutes left it sure does
Smell good !
I really want to make this but my corn beef is frozen. Am I able to PC a frozen corn beef?
Great recipe! The potatoes were my favorite part! Will make this again!
I know, so good!
I’m trying to do closer to 6 lbs. Should I double the time?
No. Someone else did 4.5 lbs and said my timing still worked. May increase by 10-15 min I’d guess but I haven’t done one that big so not 100% sure. Can always recluse and set longer if initial time isn’t long enough.
ok thanks!
In process of making this in my new Ninja Foodi…making cabbage, onions and carrots. Large red potatoes as trivet. Will let you know how it comes out-:)
Can I use small red potatoes as trivet or use trivet with basket to cook corned beef and cabbage and cook potatoes separately?
I’d use medium size red potatoes as the trivet, 3 or 4.
awesome !
