Ninja Foodi Shrimp Alfredo

Have you made Instant Pot shrimp yet?? It is the fastest way to cook them to perfectly pink and tender. This time we added them with jarred sauce and noodles for a fast and cheap meal we all love. You can make this pressure cooker recipe in any brand you have.

This is a really great way to cook one of our favorite Instant Pot shrimp recipes in just 1 minute. We’re adding them raw here but you could use frozen too if that is what you have on hand.

For this Instant Pot shrimp alfredo recipe we thawed our shrimp out overnight and put them in our one pot meal raw so everything could cook together perfectly.

If you are new to pressure cooking we have a lot of easy one pot meal recipes for you here. To begin with let’s start with a few basic tips:

For reference, this is the model I have (a 6 quart) and use for all recipe creations.

A white Instant Pot with a Star Wars theme sits on the kitchen counter, ready to tackle your favorite beef arm roast recipe. The digital display glows "On." Next to it lie a patterned cloth and some green onions, all against the backdrop of blue kitchen cabinets and a stovetop.

You can use fresh or frozen for this. Knowing how to cook frozen shrimp in your Instant Pot is helpful too if you just want a bowl of these yummy suckers for lunch! I must say…our family is OBSESSED with anything seafood related. My kids even love sushi!

If you haven’t introduced yours to shrimp or tried our Instant Pot fish recipe you really should. Mine weren’t super fans right at first but it didn’t take long for them to be “hooked”. 😉

This is a peek at how we made this, step by step above. Although I didn’t really call it this but I added our Instant Pot shrimp alfredo to this roundup of Instant Pot casseroles because it kinda’ falls into that category of everything cooked in the same pot.

You could probably add 1/2 c of frozen peas if you felt it really needed a veggie. Here’s how it came out looking like with such a short pressure cook time. OMG….like so good.

I really wasn’t sure how to it would turn out, or if it would turn out at all. Happily surprised I was when it did so I could gobble it up for lunch. Loved that cooking pasta on the stovetop wasn’t needed.

What is the best type of shrimp to use for Instant Pot shrimp alfredo?

Jumbo size shrimp – This size shrimp may look too big to eat but when they’re cooked they shrink quite a bit and become bite sized!

  • Thawed
    • If you put them in completely frozen they will make this pasta more watery, that is not our preference. This is How to Cook Frozen Raw Shrimp separately if that is what you have.
    • Feel free to buy at the meat counter already thawed, or buy frozen like we did and leave them in a bowl or baggie in the fridge overnight to thaw out.

If you have No shells: Goes without saying but it would be very difficult to pick them out of the meal to take off the shells, would be a complete mess too. Remove shells and tails before you add them into your pressure cooker

Ingredients

  1. Jumbo shrimp – add the shrimp in raw, without shells and deveined
  2. Alfredo sauce – I used jarred sauce to make it super easy.
    • If you’d rather make your own cajun alfredo sauce, have at it (just make it in a separate bowl and whisk together so it is smooth before adding, make 15 oz of it, about 2 c.).
  3. Onion sliced is optional of course
  4. Minced garlic will add a ton of flavor but not required
  5. Water – I use vegetable or chicken broth for added flavor, any would work
    1. Uncooked pasta – I used rotini but small/med. shells would work
  6. Grated parmesan cheese and/or romano cheese – I used a little of each

Season with salt and pepper at the end if you desire. If you want to add chicken instead, follow our Instant Pot Olive Garden chicken pasta recipe. As far as the seasonings go I don’t add many as the jar of sauce has enough salt as far as we are concerned. Taste and adjust as needed.

Can you make Instant Pot shrimp alfredo with gluten free pasta?

You could. I don’t have a need for this but in my research the cook time is interchangeable so you should use the timing listed below. Of course everyone has preferences so I would stick to the 3 minutes. If you lift the lid and it isn’t tender enough for you, set to saute and allow to “boil” until it is perfect.

How to Make Instant Pot Shrimp Pasta

  • Add your onions, garlic and alfredo sauce into your pot, stir until combined. If you like your shrimp on the well done side add those in now too. (we did, you can see in the photos)
  • Pour in your water or broth and stir until smooth. Add peeled jumbo shrimp on top now. If you’re using really tiny shrimp wait to add those until later.
  • Pour in your uncooked noodles and submerge into the liquid.
  • Close lid and steam valve and set to high pressure for 3 minutes. (if you like your small noodles to be more al dente, set for 2 min.)
  • Quick release. If you have very small shrimp just add them to the top of your done alfredo inside your pot now and close the lid back up for 5 mintues to steam them. Then add grated romano and parmesan cheeses and stir so they melt. Serve!

  1. This is the best recipe ever!! My husband said it was better than Olive Garden!! And since Carrie has already doubled it, my question has been answered. My husband is a heavy eater and could have eaten the entire pot by hisself!! Love this recipe. I used Bertolli Alfredo Sauce and used the 1 cup of water to rinse out the jar. I used frozen jumbo shrimp and rotini pasta and it was not watery at all. I didn’t do the onions or the garlic and it was absolutely delicious. Thanks so much for your wonderful recipes. (I have a Ninja Foodi 8 qt)

  2. I used two jars of Alfredo sauce instead of one, added a package of Lipton onion soup mix, used 1 1/2 cups broth and set timer for 3 minutes. I rcvd the burn notice and immediately opened the pot, stirred everything, then set the timer for 2 minutes. Delicious!

  3. I used prego homestyle alfredo sauce, (doubled whole recipe, as we are all big eaters,) and followed all directions. This turned out fantastic!! Topped with shredded mozzarella after cooking was complete and WOW!! We are having it with gluten free bread and butter. Also, used gluten free shells for noodles.

  4. My question, does the dish need to sit for 5 minutes no matter what, or only if adding the shrimp at the end?

  5. It’s a good dish but there’s no way this feeds 4. I had to pressure cook for 8 mins instead of 3 minutes

  6. Help, my shrimp is frozen & cooked. do I still put it in at the same time as the non cooked shrimp? I also have fettuccine noodles. can I do the same as with your noodles?
