Best air fryer stuffed mushrooms with portobellos or baby bellas that can be spicy or mild. If you loved our buttered mushrooms in air fryer these are better filled with cheese, crab or a vegetarian mix.

These bites of deliciousness are actually so easy to make! You can make spicy with jalapenos or mild with a rich cream cheese filling. An easy air fryer recipe perfect for your next party or potluck with friends.
Oh how we love stuffed portobello mushrooms. Actually it wasn’t until later in life that I acquired a taste for them when making Instant Pot mushrooms. Now my kids are fans as a side dish or yummy treat when creating a charcuterie board or served at a Super Bowl party.
You can use the baby bellas like you see here or if you want a really large one you could enjoy it as a main meal too. Add some diced jalapenos for a little bit spicy or leave those out. There are so many ways you can make these for your guests.
Tips: My Favorite models are the Cosori or making Ninja Foodi recipes with the lid that is attached.
It is best practice to put food into a hot basket. This is how to preheat air fryer first before adding your food so it becomes as crispy as possible. For best results, here’s a printable free air fryer cooking time chart here for your fridge.

Ninja Foodi Stuffed Mushrooms
If you want to use this dual machine the lid that is attached is necessary. Use the round basket with the holes in the bottom to place pieces into in a single layer without overlapping. There is no need to move them around and shouldn’t because the breading will fall off in doing so.
Ingredient Notes
If you’re new to using portabellos they are great. Firmer than the button variety they tend to be a bit larger too, unless you get baby bellas. You can pick whichever size you like but babys will work better as an appetizer for sure. The smaller they are the quicker they will be done so keep a close eye on themas cook times will vary depending on the size.
The base we used to fill the inside is softened cream cheese but beyond that you can add really all of your favorite ingredients. If you have your own favorite one then use that recipe but our temperature and timing y’all. This is what was added this time.
What I like to combine with this base is bell peppers, finely diced, with precooked bacon bits, cheese and onions work well too. I like a breading made with crushed crackers or breadcrumbs but you can choose to omit if you prefer.

How do you clean mushrooms before stuffing?
You can quickly rinse under cool water, dry gently with paper towels and remove stems. OR wet a paper towel and gently rub the outsides just to remove the dirt. Then use a small spoon to scrape out the gills from the tops so there’s more room for the filling.
How do you make stuffed mushrooms not soggy?
When rinsing them do it quickly. Use paper towels to blot off any water on the outside. Then cook at a high temperature to keep them dry and crisp the outsides. The air fryer is great for this.

In total keep in mind this will take 30 minutes or so. Air fryer appetizers are really great for game day. You can prepare many of them ahead of time and then just pop them into the air fryer basket right before people arrive.
Our air fried frozen mozzarella sticks are even faster since they come right out of the box already made. Of course homemade everything is always better and when it comes to these there is no exception. I have cooked from frozen but the texture is odd as it doesn’t get as crispy.
Remember that almost everything made in this “magic machine” needs just a light spray of olive oil to get it perfectly crisp on top.

How long do stuffed mushrooms last in the fridge?
You can save leftovers but they won’t be as good texture wise as the day they were made. To reheat put into air fryer at 320 F or in oven for a few minutes.

Other air fryer appetizers you’ll love
Air fryer bacon smokies are are sweet and savory. Everyone will love air fryer zucchini fries. My girls love air fryer green bean fries too. And of course dry rub air fryer chicken wings with dry rub are amazing.

There are nutrition facts listed in the card. Those are calculated by the card itself, not me, and include all the items listed. If you add something else or take away an item it will be skewed slightly of course. Keep that in mind if you are very cognizant of calories, saturated fat, etc… amounts. But, like any other Super Bowl party food you should enjoy them all in moderation.
