1. Unsoaked Beans: Use 1 part beans to 3 parts water (like 1 cup of beans to 3 cups of water).
2. Soaked Beans: Use 1 part beans to 2 parts water (or 1 cup of beans to 2 cups of water).

Is it better to soak dry beans before pressure cooking?

That depends. You can do either, dry just take longer. Another reason people may choose to soak overnight first is because without it sometimes upsets bellies without that step.

Tips for cooking dry beans in a pressure cooker

  • Allow steam to pressure release naturally, a quick release won’t allow them to get as tender.
  • Use the chart above as an estimate for about 1 c. of dry beans.
    • Pressure cook times will vary depending on how many you’re cooking and how tender you like them.
      • For instance, 20 minutes for dry lima beans would mean you’re using 1 cup of them. If increasing to 1 1/2 cups I would increase the cook time to at least 25 minutes.
  • Use twice as much water as beans.

At the end of the day this is MUCH easier than on your stove top. Looking for a few easy Instant Pot recipes using canned beans?

  1. Anyhow just wanted to say thanks for your site.
Stuff like this helps to keep me out of being miserable
and helps me stay on track. I am hoping that you continue to grow, and can discover it!
Good luck and thanks again. Although I’m experimenting with trying to set my own spin, anyway, I love keto up
to now. It is important to be flexible with
your daily diet, even if you’re locked into something such as”keeping carbohydrates low”.
I don’t wish to be the individual eating out with friends which orders something weird the menu, or even nothing at all off, although
I want to shed weight. It’s just flat out not worth it,
if you ask me, if your diet comes at the expense of your happiness.
This is GREAT. Been doing my very best to attempt to do
quality research, so stuff like this actually helps. Anyone else believe that the biggest
issue people have with weight loss comes from them not putting in the job first?
You wish to start losing weight ASAP like I do, but you must be willing to do a bit of research.
I’m sorry to say you are just likely going to have problems,
if you don’t do your part. xoxo
