This easy dairy free buffalo chicken dip can be a creamy protein packed Super Bowl appetizer your guests will love. Use lactose free cream cheese or mayonnaise with chicken served with chips, it is always a huge hit!

Having a big get together but need a dairy free dip? Try this for you and your guests this year. You can make it as spicy or mild as you like and serve with chips or celery sticks for a hearty treat everyone can enjoy all day long.
I love easy football food ideas. Whether people are just coming together to watch Monday night games or the Big One you always want snacks! Everyone’s gut is not created equal though. I learned this when my husband was told to go on a dairy free diet for a while.
I had to change the way I thought in the kitchen but there are great alternatives. This one is great if you want to use leftover chicken or chop up a store bought rotisserie chicken from the store. We make things as easy as humanly possible around here y’all….

Ingredient Notes
You will want at least a cup of cubed precooked or rotisserie chicken for the protein. It really doesn’t matter whether you use white or dark meat for this (or a mixture of both is kinda’ a bonus).
Buffalo means it should be spicy so you will want your favorite Hot Sauce to add into the mix. Start slow as you don’t want to overwhelm it, you can add more later if you think it is too mild.
We added coconut milk, or other dairy free milk of choice, to make it creamy and thin the mixture out.
You can add regular Best Foods mayonnaise for mild or you could make our Mexican mayonnaise and use that instead for more of a bang.
As for the cheeses you can find quite a few dairy free flavors like cheddar, Jack and/or others, choose your favorites.
As for seasonings we like to add garlic salt, paprika and green onions. You’ll want an oven safe dish whether you make this or our Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip with “regular” items. It is a lot easier to serve it right out of the heat so go with one that looks nice set right on a hot pad.

How to serve
Enjoy with sides left over or on a piece of toast as a sort of open faced sandwich of sorts. You can slice a loaf of bruschetta toast as well, that is probably my favorite choice. Either way you “slice it” I’m sure this will be a hit when you need an alternative to the “norm” but still want to wow your guests with dietary restrictions. They may not even notice that it is “different”. Enjoy your get together my friends, see you soon. Jump to recipe and get started.
If you want to make a “normal” version as well as this one for your get together follow our buffalo chicken dip Instant Pot style.
I mean I know, your mouth is likely drooling at the moment. You can make these as mild or heat filled as you like. Want to make this into more of a meal for dinner? Try our gluten free Instant Pot buffalo chicken soup some night too.
How to save leftovers
If you do have leftovers you should transfer them to another smaller dish and wait until it is room temperature. Then cover with a lid or saran wrap tightly and store in your fridge. Enjoy the next day cold or you can warm up in your microwave in about a minute stirring halfway thru that time.
Can you freeze Buffalo chicken dip?
I don’t think this is a great option. Anything made with creamy products like mayonnaise, cream cheese or milk of any kind will separate and create a strange texture when you defrost it to enjoy again.
Other Dairy Free Appetizers You’ll Love
Well this one one for you……but there are so many more to choose from. If you have a Ninja Foodi you can make things like air fryer smokies wrapped with bacon. Our Crockpot frozen meatballs only need like 2-3 ingredients and are always a hit.
Throw together a fruit tray, serving them on skewers is a fun twist. A veggie tray can be bought or made yourself for very cheap with ranch dressing on the side with Crockpot little smokies.
Air fryer chicken wings or buffalo sauce air fryer buffalo wings are our game day must have with hot sauce too.
Hot dip recipes are the best though because you can serve a bunch in smaller baking dishes with a ton of dipping items. Try it and let us know if you make any tweaks to it we should try next go around!
What brand of cheese is dairy free?
You can find several vegan cheese brands nowadays in a small section near the “regular” shredded cheeses at your grocery store. There may be more of a variety if you visit a natural health store such as Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. Sweet Dreams is a popular brand nowadays that offers of a variety of types.
Miyoko’s Creamery has mozzarella, pepper jack, cheddar non-dairy cheese varieties you can use. You can add half into the mix and the rest on top or all of it on top. I prefer both to thicken and give the inside a bit more texture. A mix of two types is great too like pepper jack and white cheddar….or whatever you like.
