Ninja Foodi Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Tips: My Favorite models are the Cosori or making Ninja Foodi recipes with the lid that is attached.

It is best practice to put food into a hot basket. This is how to preheat air fryer first before adding your food so it becomes as crispy as possible. For best results, here’s a printable free air fryer cooking time chart here for your fridge.

A close-up photo of a hand pulling out the basket of an open air fryer on a light-colored surface. The interior of the air fryer basket is empty and features a mesh design, perfect for cooking your favorite dishes like bang bang shrimp. The edge of the air fryer has a latch mechanism for securing the basket.

I bet you’ve already made air fryer bacon and air fryer hot dogs, but have you put them together yet??!! They’re a game changer I tell you. There won’t be any left if you make them for a crowd I promise. Start by taking out a cutting board for prepping them with toothpicks to keep everything in it’s place so they don’t unravel.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies Ingredients

You are going to need 1 package of smokies which are buy the kielbasa and sausage links at the store. You could use mini weiners but the flavor profile isn’t as delicious as those don’t start off with as much flavor.

I prefer regular cut uncured Bacon strips vs. thick as those take longer to get crispy and I like the crunchy texture on the outside.

You will want a bottle of your favorite Barbecue sauce, any flavor you like but sweet heat is probably my favorite to give it a bit of spicy to them.

And to make them sweet you want some light Brown sugar. I haven’t tried this with a sugar-free alternative like Splenda but others have had success with that.

You can make these without toothpicks by tucking the loose end underneath if you’d rather. They may be necessary if you are serving this for the big game with guests over though to pick up easily. I like the long ones with little forks at the bottom. Then they stay on a bit better. 😉 A family favorite I tell you!!

How Long to Cook Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies Air Fryer

The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the bacon and the desired level of crispiness. Generally, cooking bacon-wrapped smokies in the air fryer takes about 8 minutes. This depends on it’s thickness but should result in nicely cooked and crispy bacon.

Are little smokies already cooked?

Similar to larger hot dogs, they in fact are bite-sized, fully-cooked smoked sausages that only need to be reheated to enjoy. Therefore you’re just ensuring the pork is cooked on the outside.

2 things we do are great with them. We have an Instant Pot cocktail wieners recipe that’s great. Also we share how to cook these in the oven in our bacon wrapped little smokies with brown sugar post.

Can I double this recipe?

That depends on the size of your machine and air fryer basket. You do not want them to overlap at all or the outside won’t get crispy so the larger the basket the more you can make at once.

What do you eat with little smokies?

Well in this case it isn’t used for a meal, rather this is a snack. If you just wanted to eat the small hot dogs warmed as a meal I might add air fryer vegetables and maybe some pasta on the side.

Can you reheat sausages wrapped in bacon?

Yes you can. Of course fresh is always best but you can reheat the mini sausages by wrapping a bunch inside foil, throw into a hot oven for about 10 minutes until warmed. If you have leftovers you can make our pigs in a blanket pull apart bread too.

If you want to use your Crockpot to make something similar, follow our Crockpot little smokies recipe here instead. There’s a printable recipe card at the bottom but here is a quick and easy step by step to peek at. Have your strips of bacon ready y’all.

Below is a printable recipe card with nutritional information listed. Yes we have calories, saturated fat but seriously this is comfort food, just enjoy them. 😉

  1. Thank you for sharing this recipe. It perfectly solves the question of what to serve for a snack while we are watching all the really good commercials. They will probably be interrupted by that annoying football game with the roman numerals, but it’s the price you pay for one day of fun commercials per year.
