Mealthy CrispLid is now called the MICHELANGELO Air Fryer Lid which is the best Instant Pot air fryer lid you can use on any size. Works on your Crock Pot Express, Mealthy or other brand of pressure cooker too. The best way of how to turn your Instant Pot into an air fryer and make CrispLid chicken.
Instant Crisp is here! Have you seen the air fryer lid for pressure cookers yet?? It exists!! The Mealthy CrispLid transforms your pot. I have been waiting for this for so long. (affiliate links present)
Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid
Update, the CrispLid has been discontinued but you can grab your MICHELANGELO brand of pressure cooker air fryer lid here!! Works the same way, just a different name now. Before I shared what it looked like and what it comes with I needed to test it out first. I never share anything unless I’m truly in love with it.
I made air fryer pork chops AND what we will call a rotisserie Crisp Lid chicken too (recipe below) and both came out great. SO I decided to share my Mealthy CrispLid review with you here today. Ok so if you grab this you can use any of our easy Ninja Foodi recipes that focus on air crisp as well.
Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Recipes
You can also make any and all of the easy air fryer recipes we share weekly. Beyond that it is handy to melt an added layer of cheese let’s say on the top of any Instant Pot casseroles you might want to make.
Does the air fryer lid you put on a pressure cooker really work?
Yes!! If you don’t want to buy a whole new appliance it is a great alternative to that. You can use it on your 6 or 8 quart pot, right on the top to air fry all the things. You can make our Instant Pot whole chicken but at the end instead of using your broiler, just turn this on for a few minutes at 400 degrees F.
Use the basket included to make frozen pork chops air fryer recipe which we will show you below…
Air Fryer Pressure Cooker Lid
Yes as long as they are the 6 quart or 8 quart sizes, and any electric pressure cooker brand will work too. Just place it on top and it will fit either one securely to prevent splattering of any oils. We have used it and it is a great way to turn an Instant Pot into an air fryer.
You would need an air fryer lid to do this, or put it into the oven when done. With either of these you need to cook it with a bit less time keeping in mind that it will continue cooking when you air fry at the end.
In the package when you get it you will get more than just this top piece. You will find also;
- The air fryer Instant Crisp lid itself, seen here
- A silicone mat for setting it on your counter, seen above
- great when it’s hot
- Tongs
- A metal trivet
- An air fryer basket
- love this, easy to clean and works great even for a whole chicken
- CrispLid cookbook

If you’re not familiar with this brand, they are not new. Mealthy is the #2 pressure cooker on the market, and the least expensive too. I have an 8 quart and it’s great. Pretty much identical to any other brand on the market but comes with a lot of accessories right off the bat.
How to Use Mealthy CrispLid
Here’s how to use the Instant Crisp Lid and how to turn your Instant Pot into an air fryer (or any other brand): The buttons on top are quite easy to understand and figure out but here’s an explanation.
- Thermometer button – Push to set the temperature.
- Clock – Used to set the time, how long you want to air fry your food.
- Play looking button – To start the machine.
- Square – To stop the air fryer lid.
- + and – are used to move the temperature or time up or down.
Tip: Once you’re ready to use it you need to plug it in (duh), but you also need to push the handle all the way down. If you don’t it won’t turn on. (lesson learned on my part)
Mealthy Air Fryer Instant Pot Lid
Is the Mealthy air fryer lid easy to use? Yes!! I am not one to read directions so as always I didn’t. I was able to figure out what buttons did what just because it is intuitive really.
- The only thing I got caught up on was in the very beginning it didn’t turn on but it was my fault. I note this in my tip that you need to ensure the handle is all the way down first. Otherwise it won’t start, my bad.
When I was cooking both items I stopped and started it more than once because I wanted to check the food. It is easy to reset after checking and the silicone mat is very helpful so you don’t burn your countertop.
Here is what we made on the first day when our air fryer lid arrived:
- Air fryer pork chops
- I used the recipe in the recipe book that came with the lid.
- You could also easily pressure cook the meat and then air fry to crisp.
- Rotisserie chicken
- The pressure cooker and air fryer Instant Pot lid was used to make this.
- Came out fantastic!
- Recipe for this below.
Instant Pot Air Fryer Chicken Recipe
- Whole chicken
- ours was about 4.5 lbs.
- we prefer organic because it is leaner
- Olive oil spray
- Garlic salt
- Seasoned salt – I swear by Lawry’s seasoned salt
- Basil
Seriously, I really never measure my spices when I am making a whole chicken. However, I do when I am creating a recipe so I can share them with you. BUT please use whatever you normally put on a chicken when you bake it. 😉 Watch how this lid works here!

Would love to try this for crispy chicken
My hubby is getting ready to retire and we are going to get a instapot at walmart 🙂 I would love to try cooking chicken with this.
To brown and crisp meats
I have a 6 quart Instant Pot. Would love to get this so I can actually make crispy chicken wings in the instant pot!
I would like to try it to get crispy skin on chicken as well.. I am getting ready to get an Instant Pot but having a hard time deciding which on.
I have a 6 qt Instant Pot. I definitely want one of these!
I have a 6 qt Instant Pot Duo, and would love to make this chicken, chicken wings, donuts, and french fries with the Mealthy CrispLid! I’d also like to try using it to reheat a slice of pizza!
The lid goes to 450 degrees for 20 minutes; what about the 500 degrees, how long does it go for? I didn’t see that is the manual.
I have never ever gone beyond 400 degrees. That in itself cooks so fast I wouldn’t use 450 and definitely not 500.
In the Mealthy CrispLid manual, it says only stainless steel inner pot is to be used with the CrispLid.
In addition, the CrispLid will only cook at or above 450F for 20 minutes. After that, you will have to wait at least 10 minutes before you can use it above 450F again. (For temperatures under 450F, the maximum cook time is 60 minutes.)
I would never set beyond 400 for anything. I have used this with the nonstick pot and it was fine with a chicken for 10 min.
This chicken looks delicious. There is nothing better than crispy skin, and that new lid is magic!
