Breaded pork chops in the air fryer is a quick way to make this classic recipe my Grandmother used to serve to us every Sunday night. You can make in a Ninja Foodi the same way, with breadcrumbs or shake and bake. If you loved our air fryer frozen pork chops these are even better!

shake and bake air fryer pork chops

If you have made breaded pork chops in the oven you may never bake them ever again after this. The outside gets so crispy on the outside this way but keeps them tender inside which makes my kids want seconds every time. Just one of our favorite air fryer recipes we make often.

How Long to Cook Bone-in Pork Chops in Air Fryer

About 14 minutes is what you’re looking at. We used medium thickness bone-in for these but you could use boneless if you preferred with the timing by a minute or so. On the other side of things if you chose 2 Inch Thick Pork Chops I would increase the cook time by 1 minute. Keep a meat thermometer handy, you don’t want them over 145F.

Ninja Foodi (Option)

It doesn’t matter what type of pot or brand you have, they all work basically the same, except this one uses the lid that is attached. As opposed to making our baked pork chops you can make these year round since it won’t heat up your entire kitchen which is a huge win!

Tips: My Favorite models are the Cosori or making Ninja Foodi recipes with the lid that is attached.

It is best practice to put food into a hot basket. This is how to preheat air fryer first before adding your food so it becomes as crispy as possible. For best results, here’s a printable free air fryer cooking time chart here for your fridge.

The interior of the air fryer basket is empty and features a mesh design, perfect for cooking your favorite dishes like bang bang shrimp. The edge of the air fryer has a latch mechanism for securing the basket.

Ingredient Notes

I typically buy bone in pork chops or Pork Shoulder Steak just because they are a lot cheaper and not that hard to cut around when they are done. If I do find them on sale boneless, I of course will grab those instead. A medium/thick cut is the best size too.

Breadcrumbs should be well seasoned with at least salt and pepper, with onion powder, or actually we love a bit of Old Bay mixed in there too. I have added shredded parmesan cheese at times which has been a hit too.

Then you will want some Eggs to dip your pieces in before breading so it sticks nicely. Alternatives to this would be to brush on some mayonnaise or Greek yogurt for an egg-free option.

    with Shake and Bake

Most of the time I will make my own seasoned bread crumbs mixture as explained below but by all means feel free to buy whatever flavor of shake and bake you prefer and use that instead with the same step by step instructions below.

    Tips for Success

Do not overlap the pieces or the hot air won’t be able to circulate properly to get that ideal crispy texture you want. You don’t want to overcook this protein but of course the internal meat temperature does need to be safe to consume.

If you wanted to know How Long to Cook Thin Pork Chops (boneless) it would be closer to 8-10 minutes. The cook time will vary either way because there are no 2 pieces exactly the same so have a meat thermometer handy to check often.

What temperature do you put the air fryer on for pork chops?

400 degrees F will do the trick to get it tender yet crispy on the outside. You could set it for a bit lower but that will make it take more time obviously to cook properly but in my experience a hot heat will get it crispy to my liking and the insides don’t need much time so stick with this.

How do you get breading to stick to pork chops?

That is where the paper towels come in. Take them out of the package, rinse with cold water quickly. Then lay on a few, fold over the top and gently press so the moisture on the outside is absorbed. Then dip into whisked egg and finally into a breading. Lightly tap on so it sticks nicely, then cook.

How can you tell when pork chops are done?

I recommend that you always preheat the air fryer so the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees, no higher or they will dry out. You can also tell that they’re done when there is no raw pink colors on the inside when sliced.

    How to serve

Easy side dishes that go great with this dish is as follows: A bed of quick instant mashed potatoes works rather well if you’re in a real hurry. Air fryer corn or cornbread in air fryer is a great one during the summertime especially, cheap too! Another greatness is pork steak in air fryer you should try.

    How do you reheat leftovers?

Remove from the fridge and allow to sit for about 15 minutes so they’re not so cold first. It is great to use your Cosori to heat it the next day really. Like with our pork belly in air fryer, this is a great way to get that crunch back on the edges and warm the insides enough to enjoy. 380 F for about 2-3 minutes on each side will do the trick.

You could dice it up and add it into another dish too, like a casserole. Sometimes I will make my own version of fried rice on the stovetop with scrambled egg, heated frozen veggies, and chopped leftovers like this. I hate throwing away good food so this is one of my go to’s that everyone seems to love.
