Weight Watchers Pineapple Cake
This is what some people call this anyway. Let us know what you think of our cake mix and pineapple recipe!
You literally just TWO ingredients to make this angel food cake mix and crushed pineapple recipe. I guess because there are very few points to it. ๐ You will definitely thoroughly enjoy this Weight Watcher dessert recipe even if you aren’t on a diet.
Well that would be pineapple and angel food cake….duhhhhh…..beyond that it doesn’t get much more difficult. ๐ We have enjoyed this and our Angel food cake in a mug that is great for one for years, and now we are here to share both.
Two Ingredient Pineapple Angel Food Cake
Of course you can use any brands you wish but I typically buy what is on sale, period! There’s no draining or cumbersome mixers required, just what you see here. I prefer a spatula over a spoon on this one because you need to be somewhat gentle with angel food cake mix. Let’s just dirty one utensil shall we.
How to Make Pineapple Angel Food Cake
Even simpler than our peach angel food cake, adding fruit into the mix just makes this treat even more moist and delicious. These are the basic steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a bowl combine cake mix and can of crushed pineapple
- Gently mix until all powder is combined well, do not overmix
- Pour into 9 by 13 pan that’s been lightly sprayed with non stick spray
- When oven is up to temp. bake for 30 – 35 minutes until golden brown on top as seen
- Allow to cool completely in pan before slicing
Can I bake angel food cake in a regular cake pan?
- I don’t unless I am making this.
- There is no rule that says you must bake an angel food cake in a tube pan.
- It can be made in a 9 X 13!
- In a tube pan however it how it gets its height. It sticks to the sides and crawls up the pan.
You cool this version upside down. If using a 9 by 13 you don’t invert the pan.
Angel Food Pineapple Cake in 9×13 Pan
I’m assuming you’d made a traditional angel food cake before right??!! I will admit I’ve never made one from scratch because well if I can buy it for under $3 in the store and it tastes fantastic without a lot of work on my part then ummmmm that is what I am going to do. However….I will say this is my all time FAVORITE cake even as simple as it is mixed with water.
Growing up this was my pick each year my grandmother asked me what kind of cake I wanted for my family birthday dinner celebration. ๐
Of course she/and I always used the special pan to make it but this pineapple angel food cake recipe just needs your 13×9 pan you have right there in your cupboard. I know it’s there……I prefer glass.
You can, we add crushed pineapple with angel food cake mix here and show you how it is done. These two ingredients can be made in a cake pan and is Weight Watchers friendly. It is heavier and more dense because of the added weight but delicious and a sweet treat we love.
Why is my angel food cake flat?
If you added canned fruit like we show you here it will not rise very much, that is normal. If it is regular baked in a tube pan there are two likely reasons; you opened the door too soon or you sprayed the inside of the pan with non stick spray. You shouldn’t do that, it needs to be dry.
Unlike our Chocolate angel food cake just 3 ingredients, don’t forget to spray the inside with non stick spray because it will stick a bit, and let it cool when it comes out but once that is done it’s light and fluffy like you remember but a bit more dense and filled with that yummy pineapple flavor!
- I think next time I am going to have it cool, swipe a bit tub of whipped topping across the top and sprinkle it with coconut!!
Sometimes this is called the weight watchers pineapple cake because it’s so low in calories but a great treat nontheless. ๐ This is all you need:
Crushed Pineapple Angel Food Cake Ingredients
- Large bowl to fold together with a rubber spatula
- box of angel food cake mix
- 1 can of crushed pineapple
- 13×9 pan is used vs. a traditional tube pan
If you do have leftovers you want to transfer into some plastic wrap and fold over so there is no air inside. That will keep it as moist as possible to enjoy again the next day. Ideally it should be finished within 24 hours. Here are a few other angel food cake mix recipes.
Angel Food Cake with Pineapple
Dump angel food cake mix and canned crushed pineapple together, you may be able to mash other canned fruit but haven’t tried that yet. Gently stir until all powdered mix is mixed in well. Do not overmix. If your box has a separate package of egg whites, add all in together. Preheat oven to 350 degrees at this time
- Lightly spray a 13×9 pan with non stick spray and pour this batter in, smooth out on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until top is golden brown and middle is firming up when touched.
- Remove from oven and allow this to cool in the pan on cooling rack.
- Cut and serve with berries and/or whipped topping.

How many points is each serving
I love this recipe I add a twist to it. I take a package of Sugar free jello cheesecake pudding mix, mix it with 1 cup milk and then fold in a 8oz container of cool whip. Spread over the top of the cake. Yum!
I’ve also broken ou the check and layered in. Trifle bowl. First cake, then cheesecake mixture, fresh strawberries ND raspberries, lite cool whip, then repeat.
Great idea
I did as the directions said, however, 350 for 30 to 35 minutes isnโt nearly enough. I took it out and it sank in the middle. I had to cook an additional 25 minutes and it stayed sunk in the middle. Tasted ok though.
There’s no way it should take 55 minutes to bake, if removed too early yes it would sink and wouldn’t rise again.
I used just the angel food cage mix and can of crushed pineapple and it turned out perfect!! Was soooo good with some cool whip on top! Will definitely try the coconut and cherries with it ๐…
Yay
Made this yesterday. No
โJellโ problem. It just doesnโt have a real string pineapple taste to me. Maybe itโs the pineapple I used. Itโs still good, though Iโm thinking about making a coconut cream glaze, using unsweetened coconut, to put on the top.
We have never had that issue either. Glad you loved it
I just made this and my whole house smells amazing, just a thought after reading some of the other reviews about the “Jell” make sure your pineapple is in 100% juice and not in heavy syrup. I didn’t even know it came in heavy syrup until I was shopping for pineapple to make this awesome cake. Can’t wait for it to cool LoL!!!!!!
Can this be made in the Instant Pot as well? If so, what is the timer setting? Thanks in advance!
I’ve made this many times & never had a ‘jell’ on the bottom. You need an angel food cake mix that says to just add water, but instead you use crushed pineapple, or any pie filling! NO WATER! Make sure it’s mixed thoroughly. I’ve never sprayed the pan, & I do invert it onto a wire cooling rack when it comes out if the oven. Once it’s cool, turn it over & cut & place a dollop of cool whip on top!
Variation: one step angel food cake mix, 1/3 cup cocoa, mix well & then add a can of no sugar added cherry pie filling. Mix well & put in ungreased 9″ x 13″ glass pan. Invert on cooling rack when done. Follow temp & baking time on box, but check 10 minutes earlier.
I was apprehensive doing this with the box cake with 2 packets (egg whites to be beaten till stiff peaks and the flour pit). So just made the Angel Food cake. Could I have mixed cake by box directions, added pineapple, baked in 9×13 pan?
As I read instructions and comments, you would put into a bowl both packets from the mix and then add 20oz crushed pineapple with juice. Gently mix and put into baking pan.
Can I use parchment paper?
