Our roasted parmesan crusted brussel sprouts recipe can be made with bacon to bake fork tender vegetables like our Instant Pot Brussel Sprouts but with a crispy cheesy outside.

Parmesan Crusted Brussel Sprouts

Crispy parmesan crusted brussel sprouts recipe you’ve seen on TikTok, roasted in the oven, is a delicious family friendly vegetable side dish. Buttery with shredded cheese baked all over the brussels get crunchy and wonderful.

This is a rather firm veggie so typically you want to cook it low and slow. You can cook Brussel Sprouts at 450 a bit faster but you definitely don’t want the cheese to get too brown before your bites are tender to your liking so I do recommend lower, and could turn it up at the very end to really crisp up if desired.

If you wanted to add something else into the mix you could. 1/3 cup precooked frozen bacon is a good choice, dried cranberries are another choice or chopped walnuts will bring another texture to the dish. As is is wonderful but just some suggestions.

If you wanted to add another vegetable into the mix, Brussel Sprouts and Sweet Potatoes work well. The one thing you need to remember is to keep pieces about the same size and overlap the least amount possible so everything cooks evenly.

Ingredient Notes

Ideally you want to use fresh, medium sized brussel sprouts that have been sliced in half with the ends removed and discarded. If left whole you can’t really get the outsides crispy like you see here.

Parmesan cheese should be shredded so it melts quicker and coats the outside all the way around coated pretty thick.

You will want some salted Butter melted which makes this dish rich and creamy. My favorite brand is Kerrygold for it’s thick and flavorful taste.

Salt and pepper, onion powder, Old Bay or your favorite seasonings can be added into the parmesan mixture to your liking. A bit of minced garlic works well if you love that in all the things. Add in with the butter and swirl together.

If all you have access to are bags of frozen produce we have some help here with How to Cook Frozen Brussel Sprouts. For this one it is really essential to cut them in half so the cheese and butter can really coat the outsides and get crisp. With that said you want to defrost just enough to slice but not cook since you’ll do that as directed below.

Air Fryer Method

One favorite method to make these would be to make parmesan Brussel Sprouts in the Air Fryer this way. Great throughout the year with your meal but for a larger crowd the oven is where it’s at y’all. If you needed to double it you could but your pan needs high sides like a 9×13″ dish so 2 would be necessary.

What’s the easiest way to cut a brussel sprout in half?

There are TONS of ways to cook brussel sprouts out there. If you love social media you may have seen an influencer making these on video. Start by preheating oven to 350 degrees F.

FAQ

How do you make brussel sprouts extra crispy?

1. Choose smaller fresh Brussels because those tend to crisp up better. Look for bright green, firm sprouts with tightly packed leaves.
2. After washing, make sure they are completely dry. Excess moisture can cause them to steam rather than roast, leading to less crispiness.
3. Toss in a good amount of olive oil, avocado oil, or melted coconut oil. Oil helps them crisp up and develop a golden-brown crust.
4. Make sure they are in a single layer with space between each piece. Overcrowding the pan traps moisture and prevents them from getting crispy.

How to re-crisp Brussels sprouts?

Set your oven or toaster oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the leftover bussels sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet. If they are too close together, they will steam rather than crisp. Lightly drizzle with a bit of olive oil or spray with cooking spray to help them crisp up again. Reheat for about 5-10 minutes, or until they are hot and the exterior is crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
