Parmesan Crusted Brussel Sprouts with Bacon

This is a rather firm veggie so typically you want to cook it low and slow. You can cook Brussel Sprouts at 450 a bit faster but you definitely donโ€™t want the cheese to get too brown before your bites are tender to your liking so I do recommend lower, and could turn it up at the very end to really crisp up if desired.

Can you make this in the air fryer?

One favorite method to make these would be to make Parmesan Brussel Sprouts in the Air Fryer this way. Great throughout the year with your meal but for a larger crowd the oven is where itโ€™s at yโ€™all. If you needed to double it you could but your pan needs high sides like a 9ร—13โ€ณ dish so 2 would be necessary.

If you wanted to add something else into the mix you could. 1/3 cup precooked frozen bacon is a good choice, dried cranberries are another choice or chopped walnuts will bring another texture to the dish. As is is wonderful but just some suggestions.

If you wanted to add another vegetable into the mix, Brussel Sprouts and Sweet Potatoes work well. The one thing you need to remember is to keep pieces about the same size and overlap the least amount possible so everything cooks evenly.

Ingredients

  • 2 c brussel sprouts halved, ends removed
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Butter melted
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp basil

Salt and pepper, onion powder, Old Bay or your favorite seasonings can be added into the parmesan mixture to your liking. A bit of minced garlic works well if you love that in all the things. Add in with the butter and swirl together.

If all you have access to are bags of frozen produce we have some help here with How to Cook Frozen Brussel Sprouts. For this one it is really essential to cut them in half so the cheese and butter can really coat the outsides and get crisp. With that said you want to defrost just enough to slice but not cook since youโ€™ll do that as directed below.

Whatโ€™s the easiest way to cut a brussel sprout in half?

Best way to do this is to Microwave Brussel Sprouts about half the time, just so you can cut with a knife in half really easily. Then continue to follow the step by steps below but you will likely need to decrease the timing a bit. Check tenderness after 10 minutes.

  • Cut ends off brussels and discard those. Slice each one in half lengthwise.
  • Melt butter and pour into the pan with seasonings sprinkled all around too evenly.
  • Sprinkle freshly grated parmesan cheese evenly across pan into melted butter.
  • Lay brussel sprouts cut side facing down into the dish without allowing them to overlap.
  • Roast in hot oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are as tender as youโ€™d like them to be and golden brown.
  • Remove and let Roasted Brussel Sprouts rest in pan for 5 minutes before serving.

There are TONS of ways to cook brussel sprouts out there. If you love social media you may have seen an influencer making these on video. Start by preheating oven to 350 degrees F.
