How to Make Cheese Garlic Bread Like Pizza Hut

If you do want to make it like your favorite pizza joint does, follow this recipe but add shredded cheese to the top at the end. Let it melt and then you can make a copycat version right at home. We used baguettes here to get each piece really chewy and crunchy. We will show you how to make this as an easy air fryer garlic bread recipe, or baked on a sheet pan too.

If you prefer to use French bread and want spicy garlic bread <—– I would refer to this blend of spices to top each piece. Of course any garlic butter can be amped up with red pepper flakes but some mixtures are more intense than others.

How to Make Garlic Bread Dough with Yeast

Ok so if you are going to show off with starting from baking your own bread you can I guess. Typically I am not this motivated and/or have time to go all out like this but whatever. 😉

  1. If you want to make homemade bread recipes with yeast there are a few favorites like
    1. no knead baguette recipe is linked below in the recipe card
    2. you can make a loaf of French bread, old school style
    3. if you make sandwich bread yourself just let it get to day old texture and slice it thick to use for this

You can also use Rhodes frozen dough to make a loaf at the beginning which makes this step really fast, and tastes like homemade. Yes you do have to wait for it to defrost, rise and double in size but vs. using yeast, warm water and starting absolutely from scratch it will save you a bunch of time.

What I would do if you aren’t sure how spicy you want it to be would be to mix the base together and add just a pinch. Taste and adjust from there, or omit if you don’t want any at all.

When it comes to this common but very versatile side dish the biggest difference is going to be the bread you use. Back in the day everyone used a loaf of French bread from the bakery. We used to slice it 3/4 of the way thru and try to maneuver a knife with the toppings in there to spread it. NO idea why we made it so hard on ourselves.

It is so much easier to just slice whatever you’re using all the way thru and lay on a cookie sheet. That way every inch of it can be nicely coated evenly so every single bite is incredible. If you want to make your own bread too these are your best choices;

Homemade Garlic Bread

OH then let’s talk about the star of the dish shall we? Seriously, for the all time best result you should mix in 2 different types of it.

I make a big batch of air fryer garlic and then jar it so I can use it for all the things. Dice that up with fresh garlic right out of the jar is the best combo if you ask me. As for prep there isn’t a lot really. You could even make the “sauce” in a larger batch if you make it often. If you too love garlic bread, get out these ingredients and get started:

  1. A “day old” loaf of bread
    1. use store bought
    2. or bake the bread 2 days before with a dough hook etc….
    3. store loaf of bread in bag but 30 minutes to a few hours before making this take it out and leave on the counter
  2. Garlic and herbs like oregano and parsley are great
  3. Butter or olive oil
  4. Shredded parmesan cheese
  5. Garlic, duh

Once you have all the bread prepped it should only take about 20 minutes for the rest of the way…. If you want some heat use chili flakes, chili powder and/or dry Sriracha seasoning.

You just slice and lay on a tray and preheat your oven if you are using that method. For air fryers you’ll want to preheat that as well for about 5 minutes before laying in the basket.

  • First you will mix together your melted or softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chili flakes, and dried oregano. Add the shredded or grated parmesan and give a final mix.
  • Generously spread the butter mixture onto the baguette slices or French bread slices.

Then it is time to cook ’em all……

Instructions at the end are simple, either way you do it. The end is quick, no longer than 10 minutes bake time.

  • ** For air fryer – Preheat for 5 minutes at 350 degrees F . Place bread slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding.
  • Cook for 5 minutes until light golden brown and crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes, serve warm and enjoy
  • ** In the oven you’ll set to 350 too but you’ll need closer to 10 minutes there. If you want to make dinner at the same time, throw in some sheet pan bratwurst at the same time.

Or this is how to cook frozen meatballs which go great with this too. Slice them in half, toss with spaghetti sauce and serve on top for a pick me up dinner idea.

How to Store Garlic Bread

This would be in an airtight container for 2-3 days on your countertop or for around 4 months in the freezer. To reheat, bake them in the oven at 350 F for 4-5 minutes or until heated. Serve with garlic butter chicken thighs and enjoy the next day again.

You can use any bread for how to make garlic bread from scratch however my family loves baguettes. That’s because it has a firm and chewy crust that becomes deliciously crispy in the air fryer and it’s also easy to cut
