Ground beef or chicken crescent roll taco ring recipe is here. A fun round appetizer stuffed with meat and packed with flavor in 22 minutes. Having a Super Bowl party with lots of people? Make one of each with precooked or leftover chicken breast from the night before.

This looks fancy but is easy to do, pretty to serve, and can be stuffed with all sorts of meat and cheeses. A cheap appetizer that is sure to impress your guests. Party food at it’s finest that is a hearty bite with tons of flavor.
This is a bit like our Leftover Ham Recipe with Crescent Rolls except in a much larger form. Same idea where the cooked meat is diced up, mixed with something creamy and wrapped inside refrigerated rolls of some kind. We use this type because it isn’t as heavy, fluffy with lots of layers of YUM that is buttery with every bite.
When I am making a bunch of Football Party Food this is always a must, two different ways if not more than that. You can use a rotisserie chicken to make this to make prep work easier for sure. Adding buffalo sauce will make it spicy but that is of course optional. You could transition it with different sauces like bbq or teriyaki too if you wanted.

Ingredient Notes
I have made this with Crockpot Chicken Taco Meat right out of the pot, or what was left from the night before too. A great way to use up leftovers, made into something totally new and delicious. Any precooked meat works but chicken is most common.
To have enough dough to wrap around the whole thing you are going to want 2 tubes of crescent roll dough. You want the one with perforations vs. the sheets.
Use any brand of buffalo sauce, optional to make spicy, but Franks is the most popular and comes in a variety of heat levels. I use this for our Buffalo Chicken Thighs too.
Mozzarella cheese is optional but when it comes to our house we can’t get enough cheese so we might throw in some cheddar too (whatever is in the house we use).
As for the block of cream cheese you do want it softened, just set it on the countertop as you don’t want it melted.
Optional add ins would be green onions diced and blue cheese crumbled is great You could include black olives and/or a bit of cream cheese too if you wanted.

Made with Ground Beef
Instead of listed above ingredients for insides, brown 1 lb ground beef, Leftover Taco Meat Recipe or chorizo for a few minutes, then add 1 package (1 oz) taco seasoning mix, mix in ½ cup water or broth and simmer for a few minutes.
Then remove from heat and mix in 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese until melted. Allow to cool slightly before adding into the ring shape as explained above and bake the same amount of time until golden brown. This one is fun to serve with shredded lettuce, sour cream and other favorite taco toppings on top.
Tips for Success
If the meat is cooked fresh it is best to allow it to cool down quite a bit. If you add it hot the raw dough to the taco crescent ring will get icky and kinda’ melt in a way when you are trying to wrap it all up. Same goes for if you are making individual Buffalo Chicken Rolls too.
You want to arrange the crescent triangles in a circle, with the wide ends overlapping and the pointed end pointing outward. Spoon the mixture onto the wide ends forming a ring folding over the filling and tuck them under the wide ends.

Can you use puff pastry to make a taco ring?
Technically yes, but crescent rolls taco ring we share here is better with a fluffier texture. Puff pastry will have a different cook time and would need to be sliced into triangles to create the round shape. Crescents are already perforated to make prep easier.
If you want to have a whole theme with these flavors, a great duo is this and our Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip. You can serve this one with a number of different things like sliced vegetables, bruschetta toast slices, pita chips and other fun scooping items.

Taco Crescent Ring Recipe
Equipment
- 1 baking sheet
- 1 Bowl
Ingredients
- 2 tubes crescent rolls
- 1/4-1/2 cup buffalo sauce, optional to make spicy
- 2 cup chicken, leftovers or other precooked chopped meat
- 1 cup cheese, mozzarella used
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup blue cheese, crumbled
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken and buffalo sauce, adjusting the amount of sauce to your desired level of spiciness. Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese and softened cream cheese until well combined.
- If desired, add chopped green onions for extra flavor. Unroll the tubes of refrigerated crescent roll dough. Separate the dough into triangles. Arrange the crescent triangles on the baking sheet in a circular pattern, with the wide ends overlapping slightly and the pointed ends extending outward.
- This will form a ring-like shape. Spoon the buffalo chicken mixture onto the wide ends of the crescent triangles, forming a ring. Fold the pointed ends of the triangles over the filling and tuck them under the wide ends, creating an enclosed ring.
- Place the baking sheet with the assembled buffalo chicken crescent ring in the preheated oven. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Once the crescent ring is out of the oven, if desired, sprinkle crumbled blue cheese over the top while it's still warm.
- Allow the buffalo chicken crescent ring to cool slightly before slicing into portions. Serve it warm with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing
- Ground Beef Taco Ring – instead of listed above ingredients for insides, brown 1 lb ground beef for a few minutes, then add 1 package (1 oz) taco seasoning mix, mix in ½ cup water or broth and simmer for a few minutes. Then remove from heat and mix in 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese until melted. Allow to cool slightly before adding into the ring shape as explained above and bake the same amount of time until golden brown.
