Our easy peanut butter bread recipe with cake mix is here! Use Jif and ripe bananas, similar to our yellow cake mix banana bread but with a rich peanut butter flavor to it. Delicious served for dessert or breakfast with a glaze or as is.

Peanut Butter Bread

Best banana peanut butter bread cake mix hack we love in the morning as a treat. Using a boxed mix makes it quick to whip together for brunch with guests or for your family when you are just craving something sweet after dinner.

This time we have two peanut butter recipe ideas for you depending on how much prep time you have on hand. Our cake mix recipe skips a lot of measuring and makes two loaf pans full. That means you can freeze one for later or make friends with your neighbors by gifting one to them. 😉

The other is from scratch with self rising flour which means NO wait time for rising like our Peanut Butter Sweet Rolls requires. This is bread, but not like the one you would make a sandwich out of. Instead think of sweet breads, dense, like pumpkin or banana like.

Peanut Butter Bread Ingredients

You’re going to need 2 9×5 loaf pans to make this one. I mean you could cut it in half and just make one but you’d need to measure out the amount of mix in the box, cut in half and do the rest for the other 3 ingredients.

I used a box of yellow cake mix with 4 overripe bananas ripe and mashed which is about 2 cups and could be cut in half with other alternatives such as; 1 cup yogurt + 2 bananas or sour cream instead.

You will want to use some creamy peanut butter or you could use peanut butter powder which is higher in protein but need to make as directed into an actual butter to add the moisture necessary to bake to tender.

And 2 eggs room temperature is best

Can you add chocolate chips?

Of course, crushed nuts work too if you want to add other things. I would keep either one to 1/2 cup at most so the measurements still work and stay moist. Know that if you add other things like this it will weigh it down so it will likely be a bit flatter.

Peanut Butter Frosting is optional for the top but super yummy for sure. I mean not entirely necessary since it is already rather sweet but a fun addition to the top. You can just use the confectioners sugar and milk for flavors to not be as deep too.

How Long to Bake Peanut Butter Bread

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray inside of two 9×5″ loaf pans or line with parchment paper. Divide batter in between both pans equally and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean in middle with moist crumbs attached. Remove and sit for 10 minutes before removing from pan and allowing to cool completely on cooling rack before slicing.

Homemade Peanut Butter Bread (Option)

In a bowl blend together 1 cup softened butter + 4 tbsp powdered peanut butter + 1 cup sugar + 4 eggs. In another bowl mix together dry ingredients; 2 cups self rising flour + 1 tsp baking soda + 1 tsp baking powder and then incorporate it into the wet mixture until smooth.

Spoon into sprayed loaf pan and bake in preheated oven set to 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool on cooling rack.

** If you want to add a peanut butter glaze whisk together ingredients for glaze in a bowl until smooth and drizzle over the top of each slice when served. A great brunch duo is this and our Lunch Lady Peanut Butter Bars together. 😉 Jump to recipe and see what you think!
