Even if you don’t drink beer (me) you will love this Instant Pot beer bread recipe. I had always made it in the oven but this year I made this popular pressure cooker bread in my favorite “fancy” machine and it was one less thing I had to keep an eye on + I didn’t have to heat up my whole house to bake it. Instant Pot Beer Bread Recipe
If you’ve never had beer bread it is a dense bread that is perfect paired with a variety of dips. It’s seriously the best appetizer during the holidays. Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas are not the same without serving the 3 ingredient beer bread.
Just cut it up into small chunks. Just big enough to smother it with our pressure cooker cheese fondue, beer cheese dip recipe or another one of the best hot dip recipes.
You know what’s great other than it is so yummy, there are only 3 ingredients for this basic beer bread!! Adding cheese and chiles makes it a total of 5 but seriously that is so easy. I always have what I need on hand too so it is a quick pressure cooker appetizer I can throw together.
I like Instant Pot beer bread because it doesn’t require time to rise or the need for dry yeast. The self rising flour is all you need and it works great to rise just enough. Remember that beer bread is not really fluffy….but perfect for dipping!
Can you use any beer for beer bread?
For sure you can. This is a great way to make it a deeper lager flavor or stay mild with a blonde choice. I personally like to use something like Coors Light or something that just adds a bit of that hops taste but you could go all out with Guinness if you wanted to.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle or can of beer – the darker the beer the darker the color of the bread and deeper the flavor, I prefer light colored beer
- Self rising flour is different from all purpose with the leavening agents already in there
- Butter will be some moisture and make it rich and creamy
- Add ins
- Cheddar cheese
- Diced chives
- Diced jalapeno
- Bacon bits
Can you make beer bread with something other than beer?
Of course you can but you do want something with bubbles. This will make it fluffier vs. if you used a juice without it. Sprakling apple cider would work too though or even soda such as 7-up or something with more flavor like Coca-Cola.
Ninja Foodi Beer Bread
If you want to use this type of machine there are two lids. You will want to pressure cook this which means it is the lid that is not attached that will be used. Use the flat trivet on the bottom to keep the pan out of the water below so it can steam perfectly.
Dips to serve with bread
Serve your beer bread cut up into bite size pieces with one (or all) of these dips on the side = the best appetizer ever!

- 1 mini bundt pan
Ingredients
- 1 bottle beer
- 3 c self rising flour, do not scoop, spoon into measuring cup to aerate
- 2 tbsp butter, salted, melted
- 1 can diced chiles, optional, 4 oz.
- 1/2 c cheddar cheese, optional, shredded
Instructions
- Measure out 3 cups flour, make sure you spoon your flour into measuring cup instead of scooping up.
- In a bowl pour your bottle or can of beer in with your flour and mix gently allowing it to stay lumpy.
- Pour in your melted butter and any other add ins and gently fold in.
- Spray your 6″ bundt pan with non stick spray and pour beer bread mixture in it.
- Cover with a paper towel and then tinfoil.
- Pour 2 c water into your Instant Pot or pressure cooker and put a trivet inside.
- Lower your bundt pan on to your trivet and close your lid, and close steam valve.
- Set to pressure, high, for 65 minutes.
- Allow steam to naturally release.
- Uncover and put on cooling rack. It will still look a bit sticky but will continue to cook as it cools so don’t worry.

How many ounces of beer, 12 ounces? I have cans of Guinness and they are 14.9 ounces each.
how does adding things affect the bread
Any recommendations on what to use if you don’t have a bundt pan small enough to fit in the Instant POP?
I use a 7″ spring form cake pan with parchment paper bottom . Far easier to get out of the pan than a bunt pan.
Can I use all purpose flour instead of self rising?

I have an 8” bundt pan and was wondering if this will work ?
If it fits in your IP then it should be fine, will just be a bit flatter since the pan is larger.
great content thank you
Thanks so much for the Instant Pot version of your Beer Bread. I can hardly wait to try it. I have the Bundt pan to bake it in so I am ready to “go” to make it.
