How Long to Cook Frozen Hamburgers in the Oven

You are going to need about 25 minutes total for these. Of course the cook time might vary slightly depending on their size and thickness but using packaged already formed, this timing is usually perfect. If you made your own patties and froze they may be larger and need a few more minutes.

Four frozen hamburger patties on a wire rack, with sliced tomato, onion, cheese, and seasonings nearby—perfect for learning how to cook frozen burgers in the oven for a quick and tasty meal.

How Long to Cook Frozen Turkey Burgers in the Oven

You would follow the same directions and timing below for either ground beef or turkey. The biggest variation will be if yours are much thicker than mine, see above. Other than that it should remain the same. Want cheese on top? Just add it 1-2 minutes before time is up so it can melt and get ooey gooey.

We first shared how to cook Grilled Frozen Burgers earlier this year and that was a hit. In fact, all of my tips on how to cook frozen food are very popular, mostly our Instant Pot frozen roast recipe. Seriously, if you haven’t tried that you are missing out. You’d never know it was rock hard a few hours beforehand.

You will need two pieces of “equipment” to get this done. You most likely have both of these in your cupboard already.

You’ll want a baking sheet with foil wrapped on the top for easier cleanup later. Laying a wire rack on top of that will allow the grease to drip away from the meat so it can get a bit crispy on the outside. Choose your favorite brand of hamburgers straight out of the freezer. Salt and pepper sprinkled on both sides as it bakes will add some flavor.

That is literally it. You just preheat your oven, pop these in as you see here and add cheese at the end if you want. At the same time you can follow how to cook frozen bacon in the oven and top each one with a slice or two too.

Do you need to flip frozen burgers in the oven?

Not in this case. If you didn’t put them on to a wire rack then yes I would recommend that. In this case the hot air can circulate underneath them well AND the grease drains away from the meat too so they can get crisp a bit on the outside.

It only takes about 10 minutes to get them warm to the center and perfectly moist! If you set to 350 degrees it will take longer but the outsides won’t get golden brown like you see above. Any higher and you’ll get a nice crisp but the insides may not heat all the way thru so this is your go to.

Ok so here is a question you might have on your mind right about now: There is detailed instructions provided below in the printable recipe card. I want to quickly explain how simple this is to make here though first.

    Can you add cheese?

If you want to add cheese you totally can, and should. You just add 1 slice on each at the end and bake for 1 more minute to melt and get ooey gooey. Remove, season again and serve on buns.

Want to cook Instant Pot frozen ground beef too? This works well if you just want to use the cooked hamburger in a casserole after that, not necessarily for patties.

How to Cook Frozen Burgers in the Oven

What is the best way to cook frozen beef burgers?

There are so many you would have to try them all and choose! We aren’t done yet, this is how to cook Frozen Hamburgers in Air Fryer too. It works similarly to the oven because there are small holes in the air fryer basket so the grease can drain away.

Cooking burgers this way is great if you don’t want to heat up your whole house. We do the same thing for quick meals like air fryer frozen chicken patties and more.

All of these methods take less than 30 minutes time. Whether you make hamburgers in the oven, smoke hamburgers or grill on your barbecue you’ll have a protein packed meal everyone will love.

Now what do you do with the meat that may be leftover? Either warm the next day and use a fresh bun or you can break it up and throw it into some spaghetti. That is what we do quite often because I hate to waste food. You may be the same way so I like to provide options for next day ideas.

Are frozen hamburgers as good as fresh?

Taste wise you most likely will never know the difference. The biggest difference between the two is fresh spoils rather quickly and the other will last for months safely in your freezer. Whether defrosted or cooked from frozen like we explain here you can get tender protein either way.

Can you bake ground beef patties straight from the freezer?

Yes! We will show you how to do that right here. You can do the same with turkey patties as well. You’ll need to separate them first so they cook evenly and heat all the way around to defrost and then bake to moist and tender inside. A great way to cook frozen hamburger meat.

How do you Cook Frozen Burgers on the Stove?

You will want a bit of water for this method. At first you’ll want to steam them essentially with a lid on and enough liquid to just cover the bottom of the pan. Over medium high heat cook covered until the middle is no longer raw. Then remove lid and flip burgers over. Cook until water evaporates and until both sides are browned

    1. Just out of curiosity, do you have a favorite frozen hamburger patty, frozen turkey patties and frozen chicken patties?

      1. I like Tyson but for hamburger, beef, I usually make my own from organic ground beef and freeze.

    2. I appreciate that you have instructions for both beef and turkey burgers. It’s much easier to do than I thought and less mess than on the stove top.

    3. This is such a useful post because I often forget to take things out of the freezer 😐 Haha. So it’s GREAT to have these instructions handy!

    4. These came out perfect from solid frozen. I left mine in for 15 after flipping but they were 1/3 pound burgers. Great technique when you can’t grill

    5. This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you. Short and to the point. I look forward to reading your other recipes!
