Yummy right??!! My kids love them too because if I serve them as a meal using my leftover ham they’re easy to pick up, cheesy, and sweet using this easy honey sauce recipe. Let me show you how you make these cheesy ham puffs so you can make them as a holiday appetizer or leftover ham recipe for dinner this year.
You only need a few items which is nice because after a holiday or when I am thinking of an appetizer to bring to a get together I don’t want a lot of prep…especially after a major holiday when I’m exhausted! Other than your leftover ham you will need 2 sheets of puff pastry or 1 can of refrigerated pizza dough, swiss cheese, and C&H® Honey Granules…seriously, that is it! Here is how you make them.
Take out your puff pastry or refrigerated pizza dough (puff pastry works a bit better but either will do) and let it sit on the counter for about 40 minutes so it can get the chill off. Then roll or unfold it in this case on to a cutting board and get a glass out. Push down and rotate the glass so that it cuts the pieces into circles, then push each piece into your muffin pan. This leftover ham recipe makes about 12 cheesy ham puffs so if you want more just double this.
Now shred about 1 cup of swiss cheese, and cube 2 cups of your leftover ham. Add 1 tbsp. of C&H® Honey Granules to give it a taste of honey! C&H® Honey Granules is sold where I live, but if they don’t sell it in your area, look for Domino® Honey Granules, the sister brand of C&H®. Mix these 3 ingredients together and now you’re ready to fill your muffin tin and bake. 😉
Put your cheesy ham puffs in the oven at 400 degrees for about 10-12 minutes or until the edge of the puff is browned and the cheese is melted. While you’re waiting for them to cook make a quick sweet honey sauce using 1 cup of water and 2 tbsp. of C&H® Honey Granules. If you’ve never used this it comes in an easy to pour container and adds the sweet taste of honey without a sticky mess (perfect in your tea too)! Here’s the entire recipe so you can print it out and refer back to it later.
Leftover baked ham recipe
- 1 c swiss cheese
- 2 c leftover ham
- 1 tbsp C&H® Honey Granules
- 2 sheets puff pastry or 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1 c water
- 2 tbsp Honey Granules
- Add cubed ham, shredded cheese, and C&H® Honey Granules into a bowl and mix together. Unfold puff pastry or pizza dough and use a glass to make circles that you will put into the holes of your muffin tin. Fill muffin tin holes with pastry in bottom with ham mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until cheese is melted and pastry is golden brown on edges. Boil 1 c. water and 2 tbsp. C&H® Honey Granules to make glaze to spoon over when done.
There are already some of the granules inside your ham mixture but when they are done it is a nice addition to spoon a bit of this sauce over the top of your ham appetizer. It makes a great dinner too served with a salad, and kids love them because they’re a “fun finger food”! I hope this gives you another option when thinking of leftover ham recipes this year. What is your favorite thing to do with your leftovers??
