Ninja Foodi Frozen Hashbrowns

Pop this bag or patties in the Ninja Foodi or air machine while you get to frying that bacon and enjoy with your family this week. You can just season with salt and pepper or melt a bit of shredded cheese on the top for a heartier feel good start to the day. With this pot just remember to use the lid that is attached.

frozen hash browns

If you haven’t these right out of the freezer before it is really a game changer. NO need to remember to defrost anything anymore. We use them for more than just breakfast. Our most popular using the same brand is our Crockpot Potato Soup with Frozen Hashbrowns for dinner!

Variations

If you want to add some shredded cheese at the end that is a great add in. You could toss bacon bits into the mixture too if you wanted to as well.

This is easy side dish great to buy in bulk and pull out when you have the opportunity to eat together. That has become a priority in our house.

Just snip open the bag like you do with air fryer frozen chicken nuggets and throw those babies in for a quick snack. So much better than using a microwave, this is a great appliance to take for quick rv meals too.

You can see which I bought here. Like I said, there isn’t a ton of difference when it comes to shredded and/or diced potatoes. Unless there is some special seasoning on it they are basically all the same. Frozen shredded potato recipes are pretty bland, it’s up to you to amp them up really.

How Long to Cook Frozen Hashbrowns in Air Fryer

The best timing we came up with when experimenting with shredded hash was to air fry 20 minutes and to use a spatula to flip them over halfway thru the time. This will get them all crisp on the edges but remain tender in the center.

Frozen Hashbrown Patties in Air Fryer

Patties just take 9 minutes as long as you lay them in a single layer without overlapping. Both of these varieties will brown nicely on the outside, if you want them browner just spray again and add 2 minutes.

You can sprinkle salt and pepper on the top of them at the beginning, and again after you flip them. Typically I will add even more when they’re served too with ketchup. If you want to sprinkle some shredded cheese on top that is a real winner. Do this during the last 2 minutes so it can melt and crisp up just a bit.

If you want to make cubed air fryer breakfast potatoes instead of these styles, follow these instructions instead. Those have a bit more texture because they are larger than their counterpart. It does take a little longer because of that but fun to make both and give guests the choice of either.

FAQ

Do you need to defrost frozen hash browns to cook?

NO, don’t do that. The timing and texture is meant to be cooked right out of the bag. If you leave them out the result will be mushier and the cook time won’t be accurate. Wait until you are ready to air fry before taking them out for ideal results.

Which are the best hash browns to buy?

If you live in a smaller town like we do you may not have a huge choice when it comes to brands. Typically I can get store brands (which in this case doesn’t make much of a difference), and maybe one other. If you’re in a larger area you may be able to find the popular Joint Winner or Iceland brands.
