This is the perfect temp and time for cooking frozen green beans in an air fryer with no breading. You can use your Cosori or Ninja Foodi with the attached lid to cook all sorts of frozen vegetables in air fryer but this is our favorite.

Frozen-Green-Beans-Air-Fryer

It’s time I investigated whether this could be done! Many times during the winter time all we have is out of the freezer. I was surprised how tender these got without defrosting, right out of the bag. If you have found your favorite main dish but want an easy air fryer recipe on the side too, this will change your life – or at least dinnertime.

I shared recently how to cook frozen green beans a number of different ways but this go around I wanted a bit of a crisp to them. There are a few tips you need to remember to get this done, lets talk about them real quick like;

You want to ensure they are poured out into a single layer if you want them real crispy. If cooking in a larger batch and they do overlap, you will just need to shake the basket to rotate, no worries.

Since you don’t have breading, like air fryer fried green beans it is easier to rotate the food because there is nothing to fall off persay.

Ingredient Notes

You want a bag of frozen green beans, or portion thereof, that haven’t been defrosted. I have tried this several times with different brands. Bird’s Eye costs about a dollar more than store brand and I will say that I couldn’t tell the difference so save your money.

Then you will want some seasonings or they will be rather bland, we typically go for some garlic salt and onion salt.

Variations

There are two things we have added to the top about 2 minutes before they were done; parmesan cheese and/or butter. They are both great options and simple to create. We have done the same thing with our air fryer frozen broccoli recipe because cheese is king around here.

Tips for Success

Cooking time will vary slightly depending on how soft you want them to become and if they are whole or in smaller pieces like you see here. Done in under 15 minutes total though which is a win in our book. Jump to recipe below and let us know what you think.

If you want to make a main dish with it that is healthy I would suggest frozen cod in air fryer. Buy both rock hard, throw them in and there’s no time thawing necessary.

Ninja Foodi Options

In a Foodi they give you the option of pressure cooking foods too which is actually faster. You can follow our Ninja Foodi green beans recipe for that. You could use fresh green beans or frozen with that and the timing wouldn’t change.

As a Ninja Foodi recipe you could pressure cook for 0 minutes first, then decrease timing to air crisp below for the optimal texture.

How to save leftovers

Because you know I hate wasting food I reheat the next day for lunch. I would do so within 24 hours or the texture will change quite a bit and not for the good. You’ll want to transfer into a Ziploc freezer bag when they are cooled and remove all the air out of that baggie.

Leave in the fridge overnight and reheat the next day in the microwave for a soft texture or slightly crisp up in your air fryer machine again for just about 1 minute at 400 F.

Other Vegetable Recipes You’ll Love

There are many other things you can cook this way like air fryer spinach which is amazing. It isn’t for just getting foods crispy, this appliance is a great alternative to your oven and is really handy during the summertime when it’s hot. In your pressure cooker you can cook Instant Pot frozen green beans and they will come out super tender.

Kids learning to love eating veggies and you need different ways to serve them up? I have a fave that got my girls to go crazy over this one. Make fried green beans with tempura batter on the stovetop sometime. OMG I could eat a whole plate of just these for lunch my friends, seriously.
