Ninja Foodi Corned Beef Hash

We made this the first time after we had air fryer corned beef the night before. You know how I hate wasting food if you “know me” at all. Making a second meal as a freebie of sorts is like my favorite thing ever to do. By crisping it up a bit this way with a few eggs cracked right on top might be almost better than having it fresh.

Crazy I know but it’s sometimes true. This is one of the bet meats like ever. So much so that I will buy a bunch after the holiday when they’re clearing them out and freeze them. Take one out mid year and enjoy it again. We even show you how to cook frozen corned beef brisket here. Then you can make this the day after. Every. Time.

If you love extra crispy food and quick recipes, here are some resources to start with:

The interior of the air fryer basket is empty and features a mesh design, perfect for cooking your favorite dishes like bang bang shrimp. The edge of the air fryer has a latch mechanism for securing the basket.

Air Fryer Corned Beef Hash and Eggs

Ok so you don’t have to add eggs to the top of this but OMG is that a great add in. Makes it a bit heartier and feeds 2-3 of us with the addition of air fryer breakfast potatoes too. You can use fresh russets and red diced into small bite size pieces like you see here. Timing for that is below in the printable recipe card.

Want to make it even faster?? You can buy a bag of refrigerated and already shredded or diced taters or frozen hashbrowns in air fryer too if you prefer. That would cut the timing down quite a bit since they are already tender and you’re just warming them up essentially. You’ll need;

Ingredients

  • 2 c corned beef leftovers, precooked, chopped into bite size pieces
  • 2 lb potatoes cubed into bite size pieces, skin on or off
  • Bell pepper chopped
  • Onions diced
  • 4 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika

Salt and pepper to taste, but the meat has a lot of flavor so you don’t need much. 2-4 eggs are optional to cook right on the top of it all but I highly recommend that you do just that.

Timing will of course vary slightly depending on how large your pieces are and how crispy you want your pieces to be. Try to make everything small, bite size and all about the same so they cook evenly. Trying to get it all in one layer and not overlapping a lot will help with getting the edges crispy too.

How to take to make corned beef hash in air fryer

You can make it in two batches if you want that ideal texture too. Shaking the basket more often will also help with making corned beef hash crispy, and a bit more olive oil spray on the top.

  • Chop potatoes, onions and bell pepper into bite size pieces.
  • Add into a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle on seasonings. Toss to coat.
  • Preheat machine to 400° F for 5 minutes.
  • Pour ingredients into air fryer basket. and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Shake air fryer basket, cook 5 more minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  • Stir in chopped corned beef with potatoes cook for another 5 minutes at 400°.
  • If you want to add eggs, make 4 small wells and crack 1 egg in each.
  • Cook until eggs are set; 5-10 minutes.

Of course there are adjustments you can make to this as well. Not a fan of bell peppers, you can leave those out if you want. You could add sliced mushrooms with the meat too if you wanted too, that is a huge win around here if I can find nice looking ones at the store.

How long to cook corned beef hash in air fryer?

This whole process will take about 25 minutes from start to finish, not counting preheating time. Not as quick I guess as if you were to use a pressure cooker to cook potatoes, then add meat and just saute until warmed. BUT you won’t get that crunch on the outsides as you do using this method.

If you wanted to make our homemade corned beef hash on the stove over medium heat that would take closer to 20 minutes. The texture of this is in the middle of these two devices. I share two different methods here, a creamy one with sour cream and “traditional” method too.

Can canned corned beef be fried?

You could air fry it if you wanted it to become really crispy. Hormel corned beef is a popular brand and can be diced like you see here. Once warmed you can crack an egg on the top and continue to cook in air fryer at 400 degrees for another 2-3 minute for easy over.

If you need someone who needs corned beef hash gluten free it is easiest if you make it yourself. Then you can ensure all the ingredients added are safe for you or your loved one. If you do have your own recipe for this dish it can be air fried pretty easily. The main thing is starting with air fryer potatoes and onions, then adding precooked meat. That’s really it.

Can You Reheat Corned Beef Hash in Air Fryer?

Totally, it is the best way ever too. So if you ordered some of this at a restaurant and brought home your leftovers you should totally do this. Just preheat to 380 F for 5 minutes, throw that in and heat for 4-5 minutes total shaking the basket halfway thru.

If you have some of this left over you can save it until the end of the day or tomorrow in the fridge. Reheat the same way as explained above until warmed. It will get rid of the weird texture that is created when potatoes sit in a baggie overnight. Those get a strange sticky feel but when air fried crisps right back up.

Give it a whirl yourself and maybe you’ll find something else to add into the mix that you love. Remember that the meat itself has a lot of sodium and seasonings so don’t add a lot beyond that. You can’t fix too much salt in a dish, it is better to season at the end if you feel it needs a pinch more. 😉
