Boxed air fryer brownies with brownie mix or Brownies out of Cake Mix can be cooked in your Ninja Foodi or Cosori! The perfect dessert when you donโt want to heat your oven.
My teens were experimenting the other day and made the most amazing air fryer brownies with brownie mix. I thought we MUST share these with you so you can have an OH MY moment too. Just one of many easy air fryer recipes here on our blog. (affiliate links present)
Boxed Air Fryer Brownies Recipe
We have made all sorts of different things with this store bought mix but do have the option to use Homemade Brownie Mix if you would rather. Timing wouldnโt change, just is faster this way.
Then my tweens got to experimenting with things with this recipe. It took two batches to get the cook time just right. I wouldnโt share anything that didnโt work the first go around for yโall.
in Ninja Foodi
You can make these as a Ninja air fryer recipe or in any other brand you might have. The only difference with this brand is you have to use the lid that is attached for this cooking method.
Only accessory you need is a springform pan to hold the batter. If your pan was larger it may take less time because the batter would be thinner.
Now there are a lot of different boxed brownie mix brands out there, and types. I love Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines because it comes out SUPER moist no matter what (I mean unless you burn it). If you choose another just keep it about 18 oz.
Ingredients
- Boxed brownie mix or honestly our homemade brownie mix is almost just as easy to make
- And youโll need the ingredients necessary to make them into batter. Ours needed vegetable oil, water and an egg.
- If you choose a different brand they may require something else but these 3 are very typical no matter what.
Equipment
You need is a 7.5โณ springform pan to hold it all. I spray the inside with non stick spray so it slides right out when done. A bowl is used to incorporate all the ingredients with a rubber spatula to stir it all together.
Substitutions
You may have luck making gluten free air fryer brownies mix at the store too. Iโm unsure if the timing would be very different but I doubt it. There is no dairy needed so you are in luck if you cannot handle milk. If you want a lower fat but great tasting alternative to oil, make Brownies with Pumpkin instead!
How long to cook box brownies in air fryer
33-35 minutes is ideal for us. With this said, let me start off by saying I do NOT like them dry. As with any other method the outside rim will be more done than the middle but I like ooey gooey moist as much as possible.
If you like more of a dry cake like texture I canโt help you and we cannot be friends. ๐ Just kiddingโฆwell maybeโฆ. If so I might add another 3 minutes to the cook time. You just donโt want the top to get too too done, thatโs no good either.
It took two go arounds for us to reach perfection. The first time was not long enough at all. The biggest must is to allow it to completely cool in the pan before you take off the outer rim and remove.
Tips
Just go ahead and preheat your machine to 330 F while you are making the batter. This is important so it cooks evenly at the same temp. the entire cook time.
This step is important so that it can continue to cook a bit more and really solidify together. It is mainly for the center, it will be wet. Think of the outer pieces as fudgy cake and the middle like flourless cake.
I knowโฆright?? You might be drooling right now and that is okay, I wonโt tell anyone.
OH another thing, make sure you spray the inside of the pan with non stick spray before you pour the contents inside!! You will cry if you donโt because you wonโt be able to get it out unless you just scoop what you can with a spoon.
Now that I have that off of my chest we can get going hereโฆ There is a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post, here are quick step by steps here though:
Directions
- Add ingredients to make your batter.
- Preheat air fryer, in a Foodi you use the air crisp button and lid attached.
- Prepare your pan with spray. Pour batter inside. Place inside preheated air fryer basket.
- Air fry and then check with toothpick inserted that it comes out mostly clean (with moist crumbs attached)
- Remove and allow brownies to completely cool in the pan to continue to solidify.
- Release outside rim of springform baking pan and remove.
- Slice and enjoy with ice cream on top.
I have a lot of other desserts in air fryer you should try tooโฆ.and a few in the oven too. ๐ And there you have it friends. We love cherry brownies if youโre up for using your oven sometime. Is there really no need to cover the top of the pan with foil? My main concern is that top will burn
Way I made them is below, you could cover with foil but will likely take longer
I bought small aluminum loaf pans. I can only fit 2 in at a time. Should I cook them less time?
Iโd have to guess Iโd say yes?? Try half as long and check with toothpick in center.
@Cathy Kopera, I had the same question. Did it work and if so, what was the time that worked for you?
Canโt wait to try the DH brownies~just got the Ninja Foodi SP101 yesty!
But Iโm confused.
1-donโt have a spring form pan yetโฆbut since area in fry basket is so large, can I use my 9ร9 or 10ร7 metal pan?
It wonโt be too close to upper heating element?
2-owner guide says โDo not use oven w/o wire rack installed except when using air fryer basketโโฆso should I remove wire rack to bake brownies?
Thank you so much!
NancyZ
You could try to just use the pot itself, havenโt done that so just keep an eye on it. Donโt see an issue with using wire rack when air frying, I have done it personally
I donโt have a spring form pan can I use a layer cake pan inโs wad?
As long as it fits, it will just not be easy to get out.
When using a Ninja Food I do I use Air Crisp or Bake setting?
Air crisp button is the same as air fry
Air crisp
This was my second time using your recipe with Ghirardelli brownies. They are so yummy and easy.
OH yay, those are our favorite type.
