Apple egg rolls in air fryer are such a fun dessert. You can use any fruit filling you like but baked apples have a thick sauce that is perfect for Fall. Once you get the hang of these you can tweak it in a number of other ways to make other dessert egg rolls. (affiliate links present)

Apple Egg Rolls in Air Fryer

I have done this both ways. If it is summertime and we have been apple picking we may have a lot of fresh fruit to use up. You can use the stovetop as directed below or make Instant Pot apple pie filling faster. In the latter months like now they may not look as appetizing so I might use a can at the store.

As is that is a great filling. If you wanted to make a sort of quick apple pie cheesecake egg rolls that is easy too. Just whip together a jar of marshmallow fluff + softened cream cheese. Seriously it is that easy to add that other bit of deliciousness. We did this with our cheesecake egg rolls.

If you love extra crispy food and quick recipes, here are some resources to start with:

The interior of the air fryer basket is empty and features a mesh design, perfect for cooking your favorite dishes like bang bang shrimp. The edge of the air fryer has a latch mechanism for securing the basket.

You can use whatever brand you might have at home. I have three different types so I can ensure that each one cooks the same timing wise. They all basically work the same, some may fit more at a time is all. If you wanted to make a large batch you could easily double or triple the amount. You will just have to work in batches.

Have a baking sheet ready if you want to serve them all at once. When done set on sheet and place in the oven just on warm, maybe 200 degrees for a bit. Then when you’re set they can go out on a brunch table with dips that are fun too like caramel sundae sauce to dip, whipped topping, or make our Philadelphia cheesecake dip.

During the holidays it is really fun to make a dessert charcuterie board. It is nice to have a few savory options on there but something you can set out after the meal so there are lots of choices. These are a fun warm addition to the other cookies and chocolates on there.

Caramel Apple Pie Egg Rolls

Air Fryer Dessert Egg Rolls

These could easily be deep fried too. I am not a fan of cooking my food in oil because the flavor it wonky and it adds fat and calories. Seriously, even if you make ground beef air fryer egg rolls they turn out better this way. When air fried you get the same crunchy texture on the outside while the insides stay ooey gooey.

Ingredients

  • Use egg roll wrappers in a package at the store
  • Fresh apples peeled and diced so you can make a batch of baked apples with brown sugar
    • granny smith apples will stay more firm and have a bit of tartness
    • or use store bought can of pie filling at the grocery store
  • 2 tbsp butter or for dairy free use a vegan plant based product
  • Brown sugar will make them sweet
  • Ground cinnamon

Variations

You could even add raisins and/or some dried cranberries inside too. Chopped nuts work well as another flavor if you want a bit of a chunky texture inside. Mini butterscotch chips maybe?

I mean try whatever you like in a few different ones and have a taste test with everyone in the house. 😉 Want to start from scratch? Make homemade egg roll wrappers first!

How to Make Caramel Apple Pie Egg Rolls

  • Add in brown sugar and cinnamon, and stir to combine. Cook until mixture bubbles and starts to thicken, about 5 minutes. Remove the apple pie mixture from the heat and store it in the refrigerator for about 4 hours.
  • Spoon the apple pie mixture into an egg roll wrapper, just enough to fill the middle. Using your fingers or a basting brush, add water to all of the edges of the wrapper.
  • Start from the bottom corner and fold it into the middle
    • then fold side corners to the center
    • start with the left corner into the middle
    • fold the top corner into the middle
    • and finally the right corner

Set into air fryer basket and spray the tops with oil cooking spray and cook at 380 degrees F for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Allow them to cool before enjoying them. You can set air fryer to 400 degrees and do closer to 4-6 too. One of our favorite recipes using egg roll wrappers.

with pie filling

You can use pie filling for this and skip the next few steps. For homemade – Peel and dice apples. Heat a medium saucepan to medium heat and add butter and apples. Cook until butter is melted and the apples begin to soften about 3-4 minutes.

Apple Cheesecake Egg Rolls

We make this 2 ingredient cheesecake filling in our cherry cheesecake dip recipe too. Just let the block soften on the countertop and then use a hand mixer to blend that with a small tub of marshmallow fluff. Use a bit less fruit filling to leave room for a dollop of this in the center. Make sure ends stick and seal well so it doesn’t seep out.

Serve with vanilla ice cream with everything drizzled with caramel sauce and OMG are these delish. If you do have leftovers you can save them in one layer in a sealed container. I would eat them within the next 24 hours or the texture will change. To crisp the outsides again just throw back into your AirWave or Foodi.

Just 400 degrees for 2 minutes on each side usually does it. Honestly though these are pretty darn delicious right out of the fridge for breakfast. I mean not that I have ever tried it this way but I am just guessing right. 😉 They are best eaten fresh though so save each element separately and cook again for best results ultimately.
