How Many Minutes per Pound to Bake Ribs
The general rule of thumb is to cook ribs at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes per pound. However, this will vary depending on the type you are cooking as well as your personal preferences.
For example, if you like your ribs to be more well-done, you will need to cook them for a longer period of time. Ingredient Notes
The timing for this works well for 1.5 to 2 pounds of pork ribs, our choice, Beef Ribs in the Oven will always be tougher meat and take longer to break down those connective tissues and get tender.
Beef broth or water will create steam in your dish that will be covered with foil tightly. I like broth or stock so that it adds flavor but you could use any liquid you wanted really (even beer works).
If you want to add vegetables you can add halved baby potatoes or fingerlings, any color. I always add an onion sliced to everything for flavor. A carrot peeled and cut into large chunks works well and then season all over with at least salt and pepper. Use a sauce on the top to stay moist like some teriyaki sauce or barbecue sauce if you like.
Do you have to wrap ribs in foil in the oven?
Yes, this is the best method to cook baby back ribs (our favorite choice). By slow roasting them covered tightly with foil allows the flavors to develop and penetrate the meat, resulting in tender, juicy ribs that are full of flavor. For optimal results, cook bones at a low temperature for a longer period of time.
What is the 3:2:1 method for ribs in the oven?
This is another method where you wrap in foil for just a few hours, and some time uncovered. You bake at 225 for 3 hours uncovered, 2 hours covered, then add sauce and the remaining 1 hour is without aluminum foil so you get a bit of crisp on the top and caramelize the sauce.

What Temperature to Cook Ribs in Oven for 2 Hours

When to Add Sauce to Baked Ribs
To caramelize sauce on to the top, remove foil, pour another 1/4 cup over the top and set to broil for a few minutes until bubbly and browned during the last 4 minutes or so. We do this last step when we make our Instant Pot teriyaki ribs too in order to add some texture to the top of the dish. Isn’t necessary if you just want them super soft.
