For example, if you like your ribs to be more well-done, you will need to cook them for a longer period of time. Similarly, if you are using a different type of meat, such as chicken or pork, the cooking time may also need to be adjusted. If you have a lot of time you can increase the cook time, lower the temp to slow cook ribs in oven 200 degrees for the MOST tender of them all.
Ribs in Oven at 350
Ultimately, the best way to ensure that your baked ribs are cooked to perfection is to use a meat thermometer. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the meat and watch for it to reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
This will ensure that your ribs are juicy and tender without being overdone. Tender texture is the ultimate goal of this food. That’s what the difference is typically of restaurant YUM vs. at home.
- 1.5 lbs of pork ribs are our choice, beef will always be tougher meat
- 5 or so halved baby potatoes or fingerling
- An onion sliced
- Carrot peeled and cut into large chunks
- Beef broth or water will create steam in your dish that will be covered with foil
- A pinch salt and black pepper to season the meat
- Use a sauce on the top to stay moist like some teriyaki sauce or bbq sauce

For optimal results, cook bones at a low temperature for a longer period of time.
What Temperature to Cook Ribs in Oven for 2 Hours
When cooking ribs at a lower temperature, it is important to ensure that they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit in order to avoid any foodborne illness.
Cooking spare ribs at this temperature for 2 hours as opposed to this one which can be 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2. This will result in perfectly cooked ribs that are safe to eat.
Whether you are making ribs in a Traeger, oven or slow cooker ribs the timing will always vary slightly because of the size and thickness of your pieces. In the oven is much faster than the other two listed though. This is how we made this batch, timing will vary slightly depending on their thickness.
- First pat the meat dry with paper towels. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and/or whatever seasonings you like. Place in a baking dish.
- Cut the small potatoes in half, cut the onions and carrots into strips.
- Place vegetables in a baking dish.
- Pour liquid into the bottom.
- Brush 1/4 c. of your sauce over the top of the meat so it’s coated. Cover the baking dish with a lid or foil in 2 layers. Bake in preheated oven, at 350 F.
- Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes for up to 2 hours or until a bone easily lifts out of the meat when you gently pull it out.
To caramelize sauce on to the top, remove foil, pour another 1/4 cup over the top and set to broil for a few minutes until bubbly and browned. We do this last step when we make our Instant Pot teriyaki ribs too in order to add some texture to the top of the dish. Isn’t necessary if you just want them super soft.
How Long to Reheat Ribs in Oven at 350
When it comes to reheating ribs, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you’ll want to make sure that the ribs are fully cooked before reheating them. If they’re not, you’ll need to cook them for a bit longer before proceeding. Next, you’ll need to choose the right method for reheating.
The oven is a good choice for ribs and pork in general since it will help to keep them moist. However, you don’t want to overcook them or they’ll become tough.
As a general rule, you’ll want to reheat ribs in a 350-degree oven for about 10 minutes per pound. So, if you’re reheating two pounds of ribs, you’ll need to cook them for 20 minutes.
Using a shortened version of our air fryer ribs is a great idea too if you want to add some crisp to the outside. 4 minutes will usually work well. Lastly, be sure to let the ribs rest for 15 minutes after cooking so that the juices can redistribute. This will help to ensure that they become juicy and delicious.
How to Cook Pork Ribs in Oven
Cooking pork ribs in the oven is a great way to get the job done with little hassle. First, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, rinse the ribs under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Next, generously season all sides of the rib and meat on all sides with your favorite dry rub recipe.
Cooking Ribs on a Cookie Sheet
If you didn’t want to use a casserole dish like we did you can use a regular sheet. Be sure to massage the seasoning into the meat first off for best results. Once the ribs are seasoned, place ribs on a baking sheet lined with non stick aluminum foil or parchment paper. Brush sauce on top and cover with foil.
- Bake for a total of about 2 hours, depending on how thick they are
- Start with 1.5 hours covered with foil
- Uncover them after this time and brush them with more of your favorite barbecue sauce.
- Finally, return the to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 20 – 30 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and protein is so tender the bone pulls out easily when pulled.
- Brush with more sauce if you like when done, cut into pieces and serve for dinnertime
You could use a large casserole dish instead if that is all you have like we did with our chuck roast in oven at 350.
How Long to Cook Ribs in Oven at 400
There isn’t a huge time difference for these if you cook similar to above covered with foil. You may save 15 minutes or so from the 2 hour cook time, low and slow is better so don’t rush it y’all.
