French toast air fryer style is an easy way to make breakfast at home. Crispy outside with tender egg bread inside smothered with syrup is the bomb. We’ve shared how to make toast in Ninja Foodi or Cosori but this takes bread to a whole new level.
Have you thought about french toast air fryer yet? If you’ve already made the “regular” thing but looking to make breakfast for dinner this will certainly be a hit. With just 3 ingredients you too can make this easy air fryer recipe for your family this week. (affiliate links present)
Ninja Foodi French Toast
Any brand will do for this. The biggest difference between making any of our air fryer breakfast recipes in different machines is the size of the basket itself. You can fit more in larger ones obviously and you don’t want to overlap the pieces so it may mean the difference of 2 slices vs. 4 cooked at a time.
If you have made this classic dish at home throughout the years, this is no different. You still use eggs, bread and milk as the base. A sprinkle of cinnamon and/or splash of vanilla or almond flavor is great but optional.
If you love extra crispy food and quick recipes, here are some resources to start with:
- My Favorite models are this Cosori or for a dual machine, the Foodi.
- You can find more Ninja Foodi recipes here as well; bookmark them both!
- It is best practice to put food into a hot basket. this is how to preheat air fryer first.

French Toast Sticks Air Fryer
If you choose to slice the bread into thick pieces and coat so they’re easier to pick up you can. I would decrease the cook time by a few minutes if you do though. You don’t want them to be too crispy and crunchy when done, the inside should remain tender.
When it comes to bread I have used it all. I actually like using raisin bread like we did with our raisin bread pudding and dip that. Thicker, a bit firmer, slices of bread are better than something like Wonder bread. If you slice French bread like you see here it will give you a bit more texture in the crust.
- 2 eggs
- Milk or almond milk for dairy free
- Vanilla and a bit of cinnamon
Is all you need beyond the loaf of your choice.
French Toast in Ninja Air Fryer
If you have ever made this popular breakfast food you already know how this is done. New to this? It won’t take you long to follow us step by step. You’re really just coating the slices with your egg mixture and cooking the outside. You don’t want too much liquid or the egg won’t stick real well.
You can use our same recipe but set to air crisp in that machine. Remove the air fryer basket from the inside and just use the flat surface inside. Close the lid to crisp and flip over after a few minutes to get toasty golden brown.
I typically use our Ninja indoor grill for steaks specifically but it does air fry quite well too. You can make this, our air fryer pancakes, and even your own variation of Ninja Foodi muffins for breakfast too.
Reheat French Toast Air Fryer
The best thing about this machine is it has tons of purposes. If you do have leftovers I recommend you use the same basket to warm it again the next day. You know how if you threw this in your microwave it would just become a flimsy soggy mess. Not this way! You can just;
- Preheat machine to 380 f
- Lay leftover slices inside basket
- Air fry for 2 minutes
- Flip over for another 1-2 min.
Add a pat of butter to melt on top and add moisture with a bit of maple syrup and enjoy with some fresh berries!! Next to our breakfast quinoa, it is one of our favorite ways to start each day.
Use a serrated knife to slice bread into 3/4 inch pieces. Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
- Preheat your air fryer at 370 degrees F for 5 minutes. When it’s hot open basket and spray inside with non stick spray.
- Dip each piece of bread into the egg mixture, turn over and coat both sides so entire slice is coated with egg.
- Lift up and allow excess to drip off.
- Place into your basket in a single layer without overlapping the pieces. Close drawer and cook for 5 minutes, then flip over and air fry French toast another 4-5 minutes until egg is cooked.
- Cook multiple batches this way for a larger crowd. Serve with syrup and fresh berries on top.
What to serve with french toast
Syrup would be the most obvious choice for this air fryer french toast recipe. A sprinkle of powdered sugar is also great, or put both on their for added sweetness. We make a pot of Crockpot apple butter and spread some of that on.
- Our copycat Whataburger honey butter is great too.
Frozen French Toast Sticks Air Fryer
If you have already made and frozen in a box style pieces you can cook those too. I’ll say it’s way better than the toaster, oven or microwave for sure. For a quick breakfast with these you’ll want to preheat for 5 minutes at 380 degrees.
Then lay down your pieces in one layer for about 2 minutes on each side or until they are warmed to your liking. Some brands are larger than others so cook time may vary between 4 – 6 total minutes flipping over halfway through.
For more of a Ninja Foodi French toast casserole style of dish I would follow our air fryer monkey bread recipe. OMG is that to die for too.
