Who doesnโt love hard boiled eggs?? We have the trick to making them easy to peel and perfect in the inside. After you try these check out our other easy air fryer recipes too. (affiliate links present)
Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs Temp and Timing
These babies are so versatile. Theyโre great in potato salad, a high protein snack, and/or a great breakfast too. You can make them in your Foodi or any other brand you might have on your counter right now. I have a few including a Cosori and AirWave too.
Yes, you can make pressure cooker hard boiled eggs or throw them in some boiling water. BUT if youโre obsessed with your hot air machine too youโve gottaโ try this. We will show you how to make the yolks firm as the photo shows above. If you want them lose though follow our air fryer soft boiled eggs timing.
How to Cook Eggs in an Air Fryer
All you need is your carton and machine, that is it! In this case we are keeping the shells on but you could crack into a small ramekin and cook that way too. In that case you can open the lid and look to see if it is as firm as youโd like, if not add another minute (and you can add salt and pepper).
Nowadays we have been making more of these than ever. Why? Well we have 13 chickens who are now laying eggs! That is SO fun for the kids and I will tell you that fresh eggs are like no others. With an incredible taste, high in protein, and perfect in the morning or for dinner, theyโre our quick go to โtreatsโ.
When we moved closer to the city we couldnโt bring them with us. Now that I buy them at the store I will tell you that there is a difference. First off for this in particular you do want white shells. They are just easier to peel. We buy organic and cage free too because of health reasons and they taste so much better too.
in Ninja Foodi
In Ninja Foodi the air crisp temp. doesnโt go below 300 degrees it is best to follow the pressure cooker hard boiled eggs 5-5-5. If you want to use the air crisp function then: Leave eggs on countertop for 30 minutes, Put on air fryer rack, Set to 300 degrees for 10 minutes.
BEST results will come if you do this though: Add 1.5 cups water into your Foodi, Put room temp. eggs inside vegetable steamer basket, Set to high pressure for 5 minutes with a 5 minute natural release and then submerge in ice water so shells fall off easily.
If you want to make a large bunch I would suggest hard boiled eggs in the oven instead. BUT if you are curious about air fried eggs, weโve done the testing for you. Youโre welcome. ๐
We will even tell you how to get them to be closer to soft boiled if that is what you prefer. In under 16 minutes you can have them perfectly done. Then just cool (if you want) and enjoy.
They are great for breakfast with a little salt and pepper but also great diced up and thrown into a tuna salad mixture or make egg salad with them.
Can you boil an egg in an air fryer without water?
Yes that is essentially what we are doing here. No liquid required just hot air does the trick. Just add them into your Ninja Foodi pressure cooker and air fryer or Cosori machine. Any brand of machine will do really. Make as many as youโd like that will fit, cook time will not change.
Iโd recommend leaving them on one level on your trivet or in your air fryer basket, do not stack them. Leaving them in one level will help eggs cook the same. Donโt be alarmed when you lift the lid off. Your eggs may have these little brown dots on them. Those will wash off when you stop the cooking process, and put them into an ice water bath. Then just peel and eat!
Hard Boiled Eggs in Air Fryer Time
Test #1 โ 2 eggs set temperature at 270 degrees for 10 minutes
- Shells came off easily
- Egg whites were cooked
- Yolks were runny
Next test #2 โ 2 large eggs set at 270 degrees for 13 minutes
- Shells came off rather easily
- Whites were cooked
- These yolks were soft in the very center but not runny
- I would say this timing would be considered Ninja Foodi medium boiled eggs
Third test โ 2 eggs set at 270 for 15 minutes
- Shells were a bit harder to remove
- The Egg whites were done
- Yolks were completely cooked
Tip to removing shells easily is to immediately plunge in ice cold water until cooled and they will slide right off.
Well we havenโt done that per say, however air fryer egg bites are close enough and incredibly tasty! You just use silicone muffin cups or small ramekins instead of leaving them in their shells.
Eat as is as a high protein snack or make crack chicken deviled eggs with them.
Or you can make poached eggs this way using the pressure cook function if you have an IP or Foodi. Adding these to potato salad? You can make everything you need together following our Instant Pot potato salad instructions too.
Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs
Equipment
- 1 air fryer
Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Place egg into air fryer, not overlapping. ** For best results allow eggs to sit on counter for at least 10 minutes vs. straight out of the very cold fridge.
- Turn machine on, close lid, and set to 270 degrees for: 10 minutes for runny yolks, 14 minutes for yellow but soft yolks (I will say these are perfect), 15 minutes for perfect yolks that are hard but not overcooked so they turn gray
- Remove immediately and put into a bowl filled with cold water and ice cubes.
- Once cooled remove shells and enjoy.

Wow! These are gonna be great for January when Iโm shedding carb pounds after the holiday! Thanks for sharing!
The best
Once I broke the egg to peel it, there was brown liquid inside and the inside of the shell was brown as if it may have been burned, were these bad eggs or is this normal? It washed off and they look fine but the brown juice inside freaked me out a little. Iโm not sure if they are safe to eat or not. Thank you!
This post is so helpful and Iโm glad you mentioned the brown spots that will appear as Iโm sure that would have freaked me out!! Love me some hard boiled eggs!!
The Ninja Foodie does not go below 300*. What machine is she using.
She wrote it the post. Decrease by 1 minute to acct for difference in temp. Hope you enjoy them!
If I put more eggs like 11, do I add more time? I also got the ninja foodie deluxe which doesnโt go below 300 in the air fryer.
I have the ninja foodi deluxe and Iโm attempting to make boiled eggs. I see it say something 270 for 15 minutes but which setting to I use? The o my way I can get it down to 270 degrees is bake/roast. Is that correct?
Air crisp for air fryer version
Alton Brown did a recipe for pressure cooker eggs. I used my Ninja Foodie pressure setting on low for 6 min. With a quick release. Cold water bath 15/20 min. They are the perfect hard boiled eggs every time and peel with ease.
The time does not change with more eggs. Just make sure theyโre not crowded.
I got the Ninja Foodi for Christmas and had no idea how to use. Your website is perfect. Canโt wait to make the stew tonight and try so many of your recipes. I am excited to use it now.
Yay!!
Trying to do this with my Ninja Foodi โ the air fryer (air crisp) doesnโt go below 300?
We did 300 for 10min to achieve the softer but not runny yolk ๐
Did your shells get brown spots on them? Just wondering if that is normal.
Thx
@Taylor, I just tried them at 300 for a hard boiled egg. Making a salad so I do not want runny.
300ยฐ @12 min was to long they turned out rubbery but cooked on the inside. Iโm going to try 300ยฐ @ 11 min to see if that does the trick.
What do I โturn machine onโ to?! Air crisp? Steam? Pressure?
She is using a foodie using the air fryer mode but you can use any air fryer just put the temp at 300 degrees and use the amount of time for each desired consistancy of yolks you want hope this helps. (I have a xl power air dryer and the eggs turned out good but the 10m (runny) egg turned out firmer so Iโm going to try a little less time.)
I just did 9 min at 300 in my airfryer and they turned out like # 3 Iโm not sure why but they still were yummy!
Thank you soooo much for the pictures and very clear instructions!! Iโm a newbie to my Ninja Foodi and this paged helped me with my first Foodi experience!
So glad it helped!
