This is our favorite leftover spaghetti recipe ever. We always seem to have some left in the fridge and I hate wasting food so we have tried many ideas over the years. You can make this fresh too of course as sliders for a party too. (affiliate links present)

Spaghetti and Meatball Sandwich

There are tons of ways to make this. Here we will explain how to serve it on a hoagie roll but think outside of the box beyond that!! Use sandwich bread inside our Grilled Cheese in Toaster Oven to make a fun duo of a lunch that kids will just love too!

Or feed a crowd with a Bundtwich made in a bundt pan and brings a fun party element to any occasion this way. The breading is up to you and there are so many possibilities. Hawaiian sweet buns add another element to the dish and kids love it this way for sure.

Spaghetti Grilled Cheese

Spaghetti Grilled Cheese

I am sure you have made a classic grilled cheese sandwich with just 2 slices of bread and shredded or Kraft cheese slices. The only difference with this is that you would add a dollop of coated pasta into the middle of your bottom slice with shreds all around it. Be careful when flipping so everything doesn’t fall on out.

You can opt for lots of cheese and just a few noodles or adding meat if you like. We show you How to Cook Frozen Meatballs in oven or in a skillet over medium het in this post. If you didn’t add those ground beef balls initially it is easy to do so with what you have left the next day. Just warm those babies, add to your toasted bun and then the spaghetti sauce coated noodles are the last step before serving.

If you initially made this with Spaghetti Squash Pasta you don’t want to heat that too much or it will become mushy. Just 1-2 minutes cooking until al dente with a bit more of your homemade spaghetti sauce in a pan will do it. Do that last once the buns are golden brown to your liking so everything is hot and fresh.

How to Make Spaghetti Panini

Just like with Air Fryer Sandwiches, you want to preheat it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If you’re using a grill pan on the stove, heat it over medium-high heat. Slice the Italian bread into the desired thickness. Lay the bread slices on a clean surface, and layer your fillings onto one slice.

Start with mozzarella cheese, followed by your noodles. Top with the second slice of bread to create a sandwich. OR if you make our Little Caesars Cheese Bread you can use that wrapped up with noodles inside.

  1. Lightly brush the outer surfaces with melted butter or olive oil. This will help the sandwich crisp up and develop a nice golden-brown crust.
  2. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of salt, pepper, or garlic powder on the sandwich for extra flavor.
  3. Spread condiments like mayonnaise, extra Healthy Spaghetti Sauce with vegetables, mustard, pesto or even meat sauce on the inside of the bread, where they will meld with the fillings.
  4. Carefully place onto the preheated Panini press or grill pan.
  5. Close the lid and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until the sandwich is toasted to your liking, with grill marks on the bread.
  6. If using a grill pan on the stove, press down with a spatula and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
  7. Allow it to cool for a minute, then use a sharp knife to cut it into halves or quarters.

Once you enjoy this you are going to want to make all the things into wiches!! We make Leftover Corned Beef Sandwich in March after that fun day too and my kiddos just love ’em. For this one we have directions below in the printable recipe card.

Garlic Bread Spaghetti Sandwich

If you want to add garlicy yum just follow our Texas Toast Sandwich directions.
