This is the best pan fried pork cube steak lightly breaded on the stove! Fork tender and super moist, they cook quickly but stay so juicy with every bite. Best to make fresh vs. frozen cube steak which we have made other ways. This is how to cook it.

Cubed pork steak may be something you had at a restaurant but unsure how to make it yourself, we are here to help. Often times just a little elbow grease is all you need to make them thin so each bite is as tender as possible. If you loved our Air Fryer Cube Steak with beef you will love how easy this one is too.
Cubed Pork Steak Recipe
Below we are discussing how to cook pan fried pork steaks, we have talked before about How to Cook Steak in Oven as well. You could do it this way technically except that with the breading you would need to spray generously with olive oil to moisturize. OR leave that off and use those directions, just check internal temp. before removing.
Unlike our Instant Pot Cube Steak you will get a really nice crisp on the outsides this way. Using a cast iron skillet or pan over medium high heat you can get that perfect golden brown but keep the middle so tender you can cut it with the side of a fork.

Ingredient Notes
2 pork cubed steaks already run thru the machine, or if not already pounded you can do so with boneless pork chops like we do with our how to cook thin pork chops, in between two pieces of parchment paper or saran wrap
You will want an egg for the outside to get it breaded and get the breading to stick well. If you cannot use this I have information about how to bread without eggs here.
You are going to want to use some all purpose flour that has been seasoned for the outside to add flavor and a bit of crisp. Arrowroot is a gluten free alternative
- Baking powder will keep it as crispy as possible and reduce the moisture
- We like to thin the egg with a bit of milk, dairy free alternative works just fine too
- Granulated garlic powder or onion powder works for seasonings
- Add some salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil is used to pan fry your pieces to crispy
And a skillet that is non stick is helpful unless you have a cast iron pan which is my preference. Yes you can cook it a bit more hands off Slow Cooker Cube Steak style but you won’t be able to get those breaded or crispy at all.

You could say you’re making chicken fried pork, a bit like air fryer chicken fried steak. It gets tender cubed when pounded out. You can use another pan to do this or a meat mallet to get that tender and juicy result.
How to Tenderize Pork Steaks
If not already done, place Venison Cube Steak or pork steaks between two sheets of plastic wrap or wax paper. Use a meat mallet or the flat side of a heavy skillet to pound them until they are about 1/4 inch thick. Alternatively you can score the top vertically and horizontally with a sharp knife 1/2 of the way thru. This helps tenderize the meat.

How Long to Cook Pork Cube Steak on Stove
Just like with other cuts we like to add a bit of coating to crisp, we do this with pork steak too. That takes about 10 minutes to prep and then How Long to Cook Cube Steak in Frying Pan is about 10 minutes with a little oil flipping halfway until golden brown and cooked to the center.
What temperature should pork steaks be when done?
Check to ensure the thickest part has reached 145 degrees to be safe to eat. Keep in mind that when resting for a few minutes before slicing the meat will rise about 5 degrees so removing at 140 F. would keep them the moistest. Then transfer the to a napkin to absorb excess oil. Serve whole or cut into slices.
Tips
In the event that you cannot use egg wash to get the flour to stick you could use mayonnaise brushed on both sides instead. Plain Greek yogurt is another substitute.
If you want a really crispy crust you can set the skillet to medium high heat the last minute to really get it overly browned. If you do not want to bread at all, follow our Pork Steaks in the Oven directions instead with a dry rub.
