Things to do in Schweitzer Idaho

Here’s what we did while we were there! We live in Boise but heard how amazing Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint were so we headed up for a week. We wanted see for ourselves and add it to our road trip blog.

Summertime at Schweitzer Resort

You may only think of this mountain for skiing but there is so much more to do year round in the warmer seasons. It is a beautiful way to spend the day with kids. We rode the Hiawatha Bike Trail on the way up, traveling North from Boise and there was so much more on the way…….

What is the closest town to Schweitzer ski resort?

Sandpoint Idaho or the city of Ponderay is where you would want to stay if you’re traveling here on vacation. You can stay on the mountain itself where they have condos you can Airbnb or stay at the actual resort with nice hotel rooms. Staying in town will offer you the ability to visit more restaurants and a grocery store but at the top is convenient.

Does Schweitzer have mountain biking?

Yes they do. You can buy a day or season pass to downhill bike. Just ride the lift to the top with your bike and take a trip down the paths. There are several levels from easy to very difficult to choose from so kids and adults can have lots of fun. You can bring your own or rent bikes at the top or go down with a guide if you’re new to riding.

What to do in Summer at Schweitzer Idaho Ski Resort

To start we were given wristbands that included;

  • unlimited zip lining
  • rock climbing wall
  • trampoline
  • and rides up and down the ski lift.

Plus it included a fun bag of “jewels” the kids could uncover in their gold mining area. Of course they started on the zip line! All strapped in and zooming down the mountain, all the girls took a trip and loved it! I will say first off the views anywhere you stand at Schweitzer resort are amazing. From the bottom of the mountain, and especially at the top it is just breathtaking.

There were tons of different rocks in each bag when they sifted through. The sand with a paper inside identifying which ones they found too.

If you have never been on a ski lift outside of skiing it is totally different. The views are gorgeous. If you decide to hike up to the top you can catch a free ride down too. With the wristband you can use it as many times as you want that day which is nice. We took it to the top and had lunch at their mountain top restaurant!

Schweitzer Mountain Biking

After a bite to eat and hanging out at the top for a bit my husband and oldest daughter decided to go on an e bike ride. They have electric bikes you can borrow up there.

They are both into mountain biking so they thought that would be an interesting twist and thought it was fun!

Taken out in a small group it wasn’t too advanced. With the help of the bike when you wanted a little oomph it wasn’t strenuous either. It was up to you when or if you wanted to use the bike’s power. Of course the scenery was amazing! Watch the amazing activities and Schweitzer Mountain Bike Ride that they took here.

Schweitzer Hotel Review

As far as Idaho resorts go Schweitzer Mtn is definitely a must see. Right now you can get your 3rd night free when you book two!

We stayed at the Selkirk Lodge with 2 queen beds. It had plenty of room, a microwave, mini fridge, t.v., and a great view out on the balcony!

Of course there are other activities/offers available. If you visit during the Winter so we look forward to visiting then too and sharing that visit!
