Sausage Cream Cheese Dip
You are going to love this easy Queso Dip with Meat y’all. I have made it all different ways and am sharing them all along the way. Cream cheese is a great base for the creamy texture you are always looking for to scoop up all the things. Add ins like banana and/or bell peppers are up to you. Use more of one or none of the other.
Besides chips, this is a great dip for sausage balls too! During the big game I like to have lots and lots of choices. If you have a large island just create a buffet with all sorts of items guests can pick up and walk around with.
We baked in the oven but if you are cooking everything outside, use your grill!! With our Traeger I will make Smoked Queso Dip if everything else is already on the grates, no reason to heat up the house in the summertime! The best combo we came up with for this popular version needs;
Sausage Rotel Dip Ingredients
- Ground Italian sausage I like spicy Jimmy Dean, precooked
- Softened cream cheese and can of Rotel or tomatoes with diced chiles, drained before adding
- Banana peppers diced
- 1/2 c bell pepper red was used
- Mozzarella cheese or dairy free alternative
- 3/4 c parmesan cheese
- Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 3/4 tsp pepper
You can serve this party dip right out of the dish, set on a trivet or transfer to something “fancier”. If it sits for a bit I would suggest that you stir occasionally just because the top will begin to harden a bit. You could alternatively move into a slow cooker and sit on the warm setting.
How do you keep a hot dip warm during a party?
This way comes in handy during Super Bowl game days when people want to snack for long periods of time. There are small Crock pots made for warm dips like this so you don’t have to use your dinner size version.
I mean if you wanted to use a different protein you could. We did this as we tweaked it to be a Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip and it was a hit!! Dairy free cheeses work as well but I will say that it doesn’t melt quite as nicely as the “regular” versions.

As with other party foods you will want some things to scoop it up. Scoops Fritos are great if you like a strong corn variety. Tortilla chips in air fryer can be made from scratch if you have time for that, or sliced pita bread is kinda’ nice too. Let’s talk about a few other fun options below;

You can toast small pieces of bread too if you like more space to load this on to. This is How to Make Bruschetta Toast that is a cheap, but pretty, option we love to offer on any buffet table. Just slice, add a bit of olive oil and seasonings, bake and they are ready. You can prep them beforehand too and bake in batches so they are fresh.
Leftover dips can be quite versatile, and there are several creative ways to repurpose them so that nothing goes to waste. Hummus, tzatziki, or guacamole, make excellent spreads for sandwiches or wraps. They add flavor and creaminess to your favorite fillings. Incorporate leftover dip into cooked pasta for a quick and creamy sauce. This works well with cheesy or pesto-based dips.
How to store leftovers
Remember that when storing it should always be cooled to room temperature first. Then use within 3 days. If you are serving as is you may want to thin it out with a little milk since the cold will stiffen it up a bit over time. Heat in 30 second increments stirring in between until warmed to your liking and enjoy again.
