Today is National Popcorn Day!! I know, sounds kinda’ silly, but popcorn is definitely one of our favorite snacks….with peanut butter as a close second so why not combine the two (with some chocolate) and make peanut butter chocolate popcorn as a treat??!! Here is an easy popcorn recipe I know you and your family are going to love!

Peanut Butter Popcorn

It really is super easy to make this sweet popcorn treat. We had everything we needed right at home and you probably do too. Here is what you need to make peanut butter chocolate popcorn.

Peanut butter popcorn

The first thing is you need to make the base….the popcorn. It is much better to make air popped popcorn!! If you don’t have an air popper you can get one here.

Alternatively you can make pressure cooker popcorn too. Seriously if your kids have never seen it made this way they will LOVE it! It tastes so much better too and is fun to do with kids.

Now get out a few cookie sheets and spread the popped popcorn out on them so pieces aren’t really overlapping. Now make your peanut butter mixture on the stove.

Chocolate Popcorn

When it is ready use a spoon and drizzle it over the popcorn as much or as little as you’d like. Depending on how big of a batch you are making you will probably have extra peanut butter mixture.

Have some cereal ready to pour it over to make some peanut butter krispy treats. You can see what I mean in my scotcheroo recipe here that uses this same peanut butter mixture.

Typically it will cover two full batches of air popped popcorn so you will get a fair amount out of just one batch on the stove.

You can stop there or add crushed chocolate chips or candy pieces in it too like we did. If you add it to a mason jar it’s a really cute and inexpensive gift idea too! For 11 more flavored popcorn recipes see my post here!!
