Copycat Starbucks Cool Lime Refresher

I love the very berry hibiscus drink Starbucks used to have, and just about died when they said it was discontinued!! Trying to make that at home with a twist, I created hibiscus sweet tea which isn’t the same of course but still has that flavor I loved about the one they once served.

Then they came out with this citrus alternative and it was time to give that one a whirl too. The recipe below is simple and isn’t spiked but you could add that later. Lime schnapps would be the best but vodka would work as well. Next to our lotus drink it is one of our favorites.

Lime Drink Recipe

Of course you can tweak it as you wish omitting the cucumber and/or mint but this was meant to be closest to a Starbucks lime drink recipe. Add fun ice cubes in mason jars and use as a baby shower drink at your next get together.

Is lime juice good for you?

Yep, it is quite high in vitamin c and antioxidants. It has been said to reduce heart disease risk factors too. Of course it can be rather sour if you add too much so often times sugar is added to tone it down.

Does lime burn belly fat?

No. There isn’t any food or drink that will actually burn fat, you need cardio exercise to do that effectively, this is a myth.

If you’re making this for a crowd by all means double or triple this so you can have a larger pitcher ready. Below will satisfy about two people as listed.

Lime Drink Non Alcoholic

Let’s just assume you are making this into a lime mocktail so even the kiddos can enjoy it. The ingredients are quite simple but you will definitely want fresh limes from your produce department because bottled lime juice just isn’t the same.

  • 2 c water could substitute 1/2 cup vodka for alcoholic version
    • or soda water, club soda, or sparkling water would be used
  • 4 freshly squeezed limes juiced
    • homemade lime juice right from the fruit is so much better
    • a few lime wedges on the side are nice too
  • Mint leaves finely chopped, fresh is always best but you can buy dried
  • Cucumber peeled and chopped
  • Brown sugar
    • if you want it super smooth mix lime juice and sugar liquid instead of granules you’ll have a better result
  • Ice of course to cool it down and stay very cold

You can use any glasses in your cupboard but mason jars are super cute if you’re having people over. A great lime juice recipe where you could swap other citrus fruits into the mix for a variety of different blends.

Lime Drink Non Alcoholic

Key Lime Pie Drink

I have a printable recipe card at the bottom if you want to add it into your file but once you make this a few times it may just be remembered. Here’s basically what we do for these;

  • Wash and chop mint fine, peel cucumber and cut into small cubes. Cut one lime into slices for garnish, the other 3 in half to juice.
  • Pour water, mint and cucumber into a container and let to sit and infuse for 15 minutes. Then squeeze 3 of your 4 limes into this mixture and stir.
  • Pour this mixture thru a sieve to remove large pieces. Add sweetener of choice (could even use a sugar free simple syrup) and stir to dissolve. Divide this into two glasses for serving.
  • Add ice to chill with fresh mint sprig and 2 slices of fresh lime in each glass. Enjoy.

This is the mocktail recipe, substitute vodka for some of the water for the other. If you wanted to add some caffeine, green coffee extract can be added too. Want another refreshing choice? Try our homemade raspberry lemonade too.
