Was finger lickin good sauce discontinued?
Yes, and everyone was so upset about it. In October 2020, they stopped making and offering it, introducing a new signature sauce simply called “KFC Sauce”. The replacement has a different flavor profile, described as sweet and tangy with a hint of smokiness. I mean both are tasty, but we all miss “the original” so here we go….
First I worked around to come up with a copycat version of their KFC Buffalo Ranch Recipe which we did. Next was THE ONE which took a bit longer to perfect. Using fresh lemon and onion, you likely have the other condiments in your fridge to whisk together and enjoy as soon as tonight!
Finger Lickin Sauce Ingredients
If you are making this at home you need the main star for dipping, I mean duh. For the fastest snack or lunch you can crisp up some Frozen Chicken Tenders in Air Fryer to serve with this. We love Tyson breast pieces. You can enjoy some and keep the rest for later in the week sealed in an airtight container.
- Mayonnaise is the main item, Best Foods is better than Miracle Whip
- Ketchup will give you that deep tomato flavor and a bit of sodium
- Worcestershire sauce brings out the deeper flavor
- Dill pickle juice gives it that slight tang
- Paprika
- Lemon juice I prefer from fresh but bottled works
- Garlic powder or onion powder works
- Minced onion, fresh is best but dehydrated works
- Sugar, white
- Mustard, yellow variety is best, dijon will give it a bit of heat
- Pepper
If you wanted to make more of a Spicy Chicken Nugget Dipping Sauce you could certainly do that with just a little change. Adding a bit of Sriracha works, chili powder, red pepper flakes and chili paste are great options.
How to Make KFC Sauce
Literally all you need is a bowl and whisk to incorporate all the flavors. When done it is better if you let it sit in the fridge for a while. This will deepen the flavors but should be covered with foil or saran wrap so it doesn’t dry out or other scents in the fridge seep into there.
Is KFC sauce and finger lickin good sauce the same thing?
KFC Sauce is a replacement for Finger Lickin’ Chicken Sauce. It has a different flavor profile, but now most people refer to it as the other since it took it’s place and the other one doesn’t exist.
Where to buy KFC sauce?
Ok so I have yet to find anywhere that sells bottled dips. Recently Chick-Fil-a released theirs at Walmart and Amazon which I have bought and made things a lot easier so I am assuming it is only a matter of time for them to do the same. Thus far though this is the closest I have found, called sandwich sauce because it is served on a bun there too.

Chick-fil-A Sauce offers a popular bottled dipping sauce called sandwich sauce made with a blend of honey mustard, BBQ sauce, and ranch dressing flavors.
