How Long to Cook Chicken Kabobs in Oven
We like a little bit of crisp on the outside so our directions are higher for about 15 minutes. If you just wanted super duper tender, opt for Chicken Breast in Oven 350 for a bit longer. You just need the largest pieces to reach a safe 165 degrees F. internal temperature before consuming.
Now Air Fryer Chicken Kabobs is a bit faster since you don’t need much time for preheating and the basket is much smaller. With that said you can’t fit more than about 3 at a time so there’s that if you have a larger family.
Mediterranean Chicken Kabobs
You don’t have to soak beforehand with the mixture we offer below or our Mediterranean chicken marinade but it sure does add a ton of flavor. There are bottled ready made sauces too like teriyaki you could use if you preferred that flavor.

How to Cook Kabobs in Oven
Kabob skewers are long, slender sticks or rods used to thread and hold pieces of meat, seafood, vegetables, or other ingredients in place for grilling or roasting. These skewers are a crucial tool when making kabobs (kebabs), a popular dish in many cuisines around the world. Skewers allow for easy handling of the ingredients and ensure even cooking.
- Metal Skewers typically made of stainless steel or other food-safe metals, are durable and reusable. They can withstand high heat and are ideal for grilling. Some metal skewers have flat or twisted designs to prevent ingredients from spinning or slipping.
- Bamboo Skewers are economical and disposable. They are commonly used and can be soaked in water before use to prevent burning on the grill. Bamboo are available in various lengths to accommodate different serving sizes.
- Wooden Skewers are another affordable option. They are made from different types of wood and can also be soaked in water before use to avoid burning, especially for grilled chicken kabobs. May come in different shapes, such as paddle-style skewers or simple straight sticks.
All of thesed come in various lengths, typically ranging from 6 inches to 12 inches or longer. The choice of skewer length depends on the size and type of ingredients you plan to use for your piees.
When using them, it’s essential to prepare the ingredients properly. Cut meat, seafood, and vegetables into uniform-sized pieces to ensure even cooking. You can alternate ingredients on the stick to create visually appealing and balanced stick.
Marinating chicken in lemon juice is a great way to infuse it with a bright and tangy flavor while also helping to tenderize the meat too. I would soak for a good 30 minutes but it could be left for longer. With How to Cook Marinated Beef Fajitas in the Oven I use a dry rub and sauce for really bold flavors.
How to Bake Marinated Chicken Kabobs
- Cut the chicken breasts into 2 inch chunks. In a gallon size freezer bag, add the remaining ingredients and shake to combine. (or use marinade of choice)
- Add the pieces of chicken breasts chunks in the bag.
- Seal and toss to coat. Refrigerate for at least two hours to overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Prepare a large rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil spritzed with nonstick cooking spray.
- Thread bamboo skewers with the chicken.
- Place the skewers on the baking sheet. Bake the chicken kabobs for 15 minutes cooking time or until internal temp reaches 165 F., turning once.
- If more color is desired, preheat the oven’s broiler.
Feel free to put on a baking sheet under the broiler and cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until the desired color is reached.
Are chicken skewers and chicken kabobs the same thing?
Yes this is this same concept, just different terms that can be made with all sorts of other meats. To start jump to recipe and try it this way and then think outside of the box trying it with beef chunks, fish, all sorts of veggies that cook at the same rate. Some even like pineapple chunks to add a bit of sweetness on there.
If you do have leftovers they will save well in the fridge. Wait until they cool down completely and then save in a freezer bag with the air sucked out. I like to reheat in an air fryer to crisp up the outsides just a bit.
