Greek Garlic Yogurt Dip
Not only is it super low carb and keto friendly but it is packed with flavors you’ll love. You can make your chicken or ground beef air fryer flautas go from good to OH MY goodness delish when you whip this baby up.
It takes about 5 minutes to do so if you’re hosting taco Tuesday at your house some night I suggest you make a double batch because this will go quickly. Cilantro, yogurt and garlic are the key elements to this pot of yum so let’s get going. It’s also great used as a chicken nugget dipping sauce!
Cilantro Dip
There is no substitute for fresh when it comes to herbs. I mean if you are making a casserole or something you could hide it but in a sauce or dip you want fresh cilantro for sure. Dice it up nice and fine so yes there is a bit of texture left to it but it isn’t chunky and weird.
Dipping Sauce for Empanadas
I like 4 dips with these; this one, sour cream, salsa verde and a dollop of guacamole too. If you want a really smooth blend you could use a food processor or just good old fashioned elbow grease is just fine too. This is what you need for this yogurt garlic sauce recipe.
What are the most popular empanadas?
If you are making them yourself you can fill these mini hand pies with literally anything. Use puff pastry or frozen dough with an egg wash & olive oil spray to crisp. Deep fry or air fry until golden brown. They’re kinda’ like bite sized hot pockets stuffed with whatever you have on hand. BUT if you were to take a survey people like them best filled with:
How to Make Creamy Greek Yogurt Dip
We are sharing this as a killer dip for things like chicken taquitos air fryer and more but really it is wonderful spread on too. To add flavor to a baked fish fillet or even an alternative to ketchup on a burger it is something different to try!
- Taco meat filling with maybe some diced bell peppers inside is #1
- Shredded chicken or grilled chicken diced is popular for a lower fat option
- And then there’s the shredded beef option of course
What is Empanada Dipping Sauce Made of?
You can find the main star of the show already made and frozen in a box at the store. They are right next to the frozen taquitos and typically by the same brand. They are way better with a dip alongside them though!
- Diced cilantro
- Lime juice, or lemon juice if you don’t have that
- Plain greek yogurt
- I like dicing up fresh air fryer garlic cloves
- Onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
If you wanted to add a middle eastern flair to it you could add a bit of cumin into the mix. Start small with seasonings, whisk together and then taste. Adjust with a little bit more until it is just right for your tastebuds. Feel like it needs more minced garlic too, add a bit more and make a note of it for next time.
Empanada and Cilantro Sauce
You can jump to recipe below and save for later with your own adjustments on the side if you wish. I think this is just right for us but everyone is just slightly different when it comes to seasonings, and heat. Want to make this spicy? Add a pinch of dry Sriracha or chili flakes into the mix too.
This saves quite well so if you have extra just spoon into a jar that can seal shut. Since there is dairy in this it won’t last forever but typically we will make these once a week or so as an after school snack or something so that’s not an issue. It’s safe for a week or so easily as long as you seal it well and keep it in the fridge the whole time.
We have a cajun garlic butter sauce when you’re having a seafood boil with a larger crowd. Our sriracha mayonnaise will add a lot of heat, and sweet and sour sauce is on the other end of the spectrum. Take a peek and enjoy away.
Ours is!! Made with Greek yogurt, garlic, cilantro, lime and a few other ingredients. You just whisk them together to a creamy dip to serve with your meat filled pastries. Gives this popular Mexican snack or meal to a whole new level of delicious.
No, you can air fry them which is how we love them. A great way to get them crispy without the extra fat and calories. You do need to cook the dough on the outside though, cooking in the oven on a baking sheet is even a great healthier choice.
