We’re a sucker for anything in an egg roll wrapper! We love thinking outside of the box and coming up with new ways to use them and this week we made these fun ham and cheese egg rolls! Sponsored by Buddig. (affiliate links present)

Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Egg Rolls

They came out so good, and were really easy to make! You just need 3 things to make homemade egg roll wrappers (linked in recipe card), or dippers we like to call them. You can of course buy them already made and packaged too for a faster prep time.

Dipped in honey mustard they were the perfect lunch. Great snack later in the day too. You can make these deep fried, as a Cosori air fryer recipe or Ninja Foodi hot air machines. Let me know what you think!

How to Make Ham and Cheese Egg Rolls

  • You’ll need a small cup of water too to make these.
  • Now lay one egg roll wrapper on a cutting board and place 2 pieces of lunch meat down first near the end you will begin to roll.
  • Place 1 piece of string cheese near that end too and begin to roll it up so it doesn’t unravel when you fry them.
  • Fold once over the string cheese, then fold in the sides like you see here. Roll almost all the way up except before you do put your finger in the water and wet the last edge.

That way it will stick and not come unraveled when frying. Here’s a quick recap of how to make these yummy ham and cheese egg rolls!

You follow similar techniques when cooking frozen egg rolls in air fryer too. Those are already filled and ready to cook so it is less prep., but this way you can fill with anything you’d like.

How do you crisp egg rolls in air fryer?

  1. Add in preheated machine at 375 degrees, spray tops with olive oil spray well.
  2. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Turn over each one and spray with olive oil again liberally, then cook 3-4 additional minutes.

How to Deep Fry

Lay egg roll wrapper down flat. Place cheese stick in near end with 2 pcs of lunch meat on top. Fold sides in and then roll up almost all the way. Then wet your finger and wet the very end, roll all the way over so it sticks and doesn’t come undone.

  1. Heat oil until it is hot enough to fry a small piece of wrapper dropped in. Lay a few prepared rolls in oil and flip so both sides are lightly browned.
  2. It doesn’t take long to cook, maybe 30 seconds on each side.
  3. Place them on a paper towel to absorb any oil that is still on the outside and pair it with a small cup of honey mustard! Enjoy friends!

You can make these similarly on the stovetop with our Ham and Cheese Crepes recipe as well. A bit lighter version with no oil necessary.

You would want to use the lid that IS attached to cook these. That uses the air crisp button so they will cook inside but get crispy as you’d like on the wrapper. You do need oil so that the outside doesn’t get dry.

  • For Air fryer instructions you would follow;
  • Add in preheated machine at 375 degrees, spray tops with olive oil spray well.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes, turn over each one and spray with olive oil again liberally
  • Then cook 3-4 additional minutes.

Can you make Philly Cheesesteak egg rolls?

Absolutely, you would follow the same directions only fill it with thin slices of steak, cheese and bits of bell peppers. Choose your favorite flavors and go with those.

How could I make a bacon, egg and cheese egg roll?

Same thing, fill with what you like. In this case you would need to make sure that everything was precooked, other than the cheese. That would need to be shredded in order to melt well. I would mix the three together once cooked and hten stuff.
