Our easy oven baked beef ribs recipe is the way to go! You want to get them to fall off of the bone and super tender with sauce on the top with a pop of flavor, we have step by step instructions for you here. Low and slow is the way to go for a high protein dinner. (affiliate links present)

How to Cook Beef Ribs in Oven

Unlike London Broil in the Oven you need a longer cook time for these babies. Beef back ribs aren’t as easy to get fall off the bone tender as their pork counterpart. I will say that point blank, don’t expect the texture to be the same. More similar to short ribs they are tougher to chew no matter what but still can become delicious.

You can in fact cook Pork Ribs in Oven at 350 but with bbq ribs from a cow you want a lower temperature for a longer period of time in order to break down the connective tissues. Then add your favorite bbq sauce for flavor and to crisp and caramelize on the top.

Beef Ribs Internal Temperature

We love to slow cook beef ribs. These are whole but you can do the same thing with our recipe for Riblets in Oven as well.

Ingredients

  1. Thawed or fresh beef ribs are used here
    • Removing Membrane From Ribs is necessary to get the tenderness and ease of eating at the end you desire. We share how to cut silver skin off in this post.
  2. Paprika
  3. 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  4. 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  5. Onion powder
  6. Salt and pepper
  7. Barbecue sauce
  8. Use as large a baking sheet as you need to fit them all in one layer without overlapping

Don’t be in a hurry to make this friends. Just like Fall-Apart Brisket in the Oven it needs time to break down the connective tissues so the meat pulls away from the bones. Then you know it is ready.

If yours are defrosted beforehand like these you are looking at about 3 hours. Some of the time should be under foil to steam and get tender, then you can crisp the outside with a sauce if you like at the end to get a bit of crisp.

Can you bake frozen ribs?

You can, you would just need to cover with foil first and increase the time by 30 minutes or so depending on the thickness of the meat until it pulls away from the bones. I would instead recommend following our pressure cooker frozen ribs because the high pressure works better if right out of the freezer.

How long do you cook ribs at 275 degrees?

Low and slow cooked ribs baked for about 2-3 hours are perfect. Beef ribs will take closer to 3 hours while pork ribs baked in the oven will begin to fall off the bone closer to 2 hours. Cook time depends on the size and thickness of your meat of course but don’t rush them!!

We have a printable recipe card with nutritional information in there too. That will vary depending on the fat content on the pieces you have of course, and the size.

Slow Cooked Beef Ribs in Oven Recipe

  • Preheat oven to 275. Mix together paprika, dry mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
  • Sprinkle evenly on each side of the ribs and place the ribs, bone side down, into a shallow baking dish.
  • Cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake the ribs for 2-1/2 to 3 hours or until tender.
  • Remove the ribs from oven and brush bbq on beef tops of each one, as much as you’d like.
  • Set oven to broil and broil for 2-3 minutes or until sauce caramelizes.
  • Serve warm with your favorite side dishes y’all.

You can get the same crisp outer texture as Ribs in Air Fryer this way. You can’t fit as many at a time that way though so if you are cooking for a crowd or a large family you would want this sheet pan method instead.

Now if you really really want the meat to fall apart I would start with Coca-Cola Crockpot Ribs directions. Then remove and set on a baking sheet with barbecue sauce on top. Then broil just for a few minutes to get the same texture you see here. We have a few Leftover Ribs Recipe to make when done too.

For a quick side you can serve with this I would suggest a batch of Instant Pot Spinach. I mean any vegetables work if you ask me but I feel I need something healthier with this to break it up a bit.

Beef Ribs Internal Temperature

What temperature are fall off bone ribs done?

Ideal ribs temperature is achieved when cooked low and slow to break down the tough connective tissues for succulent pork or beef ribs that easily separate from the bone. Ideal internal temperature for fall-off-the-bone ribs is typically 195°F to 205° F – 90°C to 96°C.
